Every company has had fabrication issues and the risk only increases with every year that they push die shrink.
In fact, not even a year ago, Gamer's Nexus was putting out videos about Ryzen processors burning out.
The other compounding factor is architecture unification. People spent a decade praising AMD's Zen for not forcing them to buy a new motherboard every year while criticizing Intel for socket revisions, yet the prevailing argument has shown to be that unified architectures have failure points.
Besides, you better hope that competition continues to exist. Otherwise, AMD's processors are going to get very expensive. Qualcomm is not going to keep them in check.
That said AmD is the one for me now since their socket will work for a while. I'll get in on cheaper chip and upgrade to the top of the line in three years

Horrible response for a faulty product from an absolutely gigantic company. On the other side, it's also horrible that AMD has a vulnerability that they will not be patching on Zen 2 and older desktop processors.
