No. The new gen is 2834-20. This one is 2732-20.

This is a very capable saw. However the newer gen has an LED light and bevel detects for common angles.

Thanks I have the 1st gen and some reviewers said this 2nd gen was heavier by 4lbs. The 3rd gen is coming out soon and i heard will be $249 and is a pound or so lighter than the 2nd gen.

A circular saw was the final M18 fuel piece I was missing to add in replacing corded and older dewalt stuff, this is perfect timing. My local HD had two left in stock, too.

In for 1.

I'll add that my Milwaukee stuff (mainly automotive tools like their mid torque impact) have been much better than the yellow and black stuff I had been using. Batteries more consistent and all around better performance.

Damn, so tempted. Do I replace my 27 year old Craftsman corded? Will the M18 batteries and chargers still be around in 27 years? I currently just have the M18 drill.

I have this. Bought for the same price last summer on a hack. It's an excellent sidewinder. The right-side blade is sometimes a turn off for people but you get used to the layout quickly. I don't think 1 pound and bevel detents are worth the price for the new saw. If you're just breaking down sheet goods and 2x material then consider the smaller circ saw. It's much lighter and has the left-side blade. If you're framing then you really want the rear handle. This one is an all purpose that I love because it does everything I need and it's lighter than the rear handle model.

I still love my old 15amp 7.25in corded circ saw, especially if you are doing *a lot* of thicker cuts.

I finally added a Milwaukee 6 1/2 inch cordless saw about 10 years ago -- one of my very first Slickdeal purchases, I think....a refurb that look liked it had never been used -- and it's been a great edition. Perfect for when I don't want to mess with a cord. Perfect for ripping plywood. But definitely not perfect for everything, as it is noticeably underpowered.

These newer ones bridge the gap between the two. Very tempting....

All-purpose is a good way to think about this. There are plenty of options here if you need lighter for thinner cuts. If you just want that one circ saw that can do everything, this is a good price point to start....especially if you are already in the Big Red ecosystem of tools.

The equvialent brushless metabo hpt (formerly Hitachi) with pretty much all the same features (plus a work light) is like $99 now at pretty much anywhere (Lowe's, Menards, Amazon I've all seen this week). I own both brands and find the quality to be very similar but metabo isn't as hyped so doesn't have the mark up. They make m18 to metabo adapters as well so you can just use your m18 batteries or you can look at buying one of their tool combos if you are missing other tools. They often bundle 2 batteries and chargers and Lowe's is clearanceing their bundles. I bought their compact drill and driver and really like them.

I stick with corded for any tool that spins a rotating blade of some sort, i.e. angle grinder, dremel, circular saws. I don't know how improved battery technology has gotten, but the last thing I need when making crucial cuts is the battery running out of juice, or more often, it hit thermal load and shut itself off.
