I swear some people think that if you're not making everything with winding sticks and a hand saw, you're not doing it right

Only a sucker would pay $22 for this plastic junk. Easy enough to calculate center without this.

If probably takes you longer to find center with this, than those of us who actually know what we're doing and don't need this.. But okay, waste your $22 if you think it's going to help you.

If you are trying to do precision woodworking, measuring and calculating, then measuring and marking and cutting or drilling off of that will never get you as exact as marking directly off of pieces themselves. The question is really just whether this tool is precise enough to be any good or has slop in it.

Feel free to enlighten us.

I cut ~5,000+ blocks into knife scales a year and find this to be the quickest way to find center for accurate cutting on the band saw without measuring, which makes drum sanding/surface grinding go quicker.

It works, but it's not any quicker than doing measurements and intersecting your markings. You still have to use the tool to calculate two points. The only difference is you're spending $22 to do it with this. The selling point is, "it will do it for you", and maybe it will, but so will compasses, calipers, rulers, and so on. The math and geometric formulas don't change.. Additionally, this is limited to a thickness of 3 inches. IMO, big waste of money. If someone thinks they need it for $22, then their choice of course.
