Good luck if you buy. The Hisense s&d unit I got was trashed and had severe sun damage/discoloration. Then I got to repack and haul it to ups . Such a headache

Just a warning to all. I received my Midea portable AC unit from Woot scratch and dent and it arrived all dirty and dusty and I swear every inch of the unit has scratches and cracks. I paid $150 for it and it does work after I cleaned it up but this will absolutely be the last Woot scratch and dent deal I buy. I likely could have gotten a better deal on FB marketplace for a used one locally that was in better shape.

I bought the Midea version last year for $450 from Costco after one of my central AC units went out. It's been fantastic - absolutely no issues. A couple of months ago my other central AC unit died. I was lucky to find a beat up unit at a local outlet store for $150. It has a big crack in the housing (looks like someone with hulk strength tried to pull the hose out too far) but it blows cold. Really thinking about getting one more, as that would cover all 2,200+ sqft of my home (tri level condo). I currently have one unit each on the 1st and 3rd floors and they're both sufficient. I should have bit when Woot had the Midea ones refurbished for $199 a while back.

These have been absolutely fantastic to hold me over until Inflation Reduction Act rebates go live in my state (CA). Since I need 2 units replaced, that's potentially $16k that the government will cover for me. I'm happy to keep buying portable AC's and waiting for that chunk of change, lol.

This is a white-labeled Midea duo (also sold as a Cooper and Hunter and Whynter and other brands). The Toshiba is exclusive to Home Depot. It's a good unit. I got the Cooper and Hunter for my garage but returned it because the dual hose intake/exhaust didn't reach my window. There are no extension kits for it either. Also, this unit is heavy AF so keep that in mind. Reviews I saw were pretty good fwiw.
I had this problem too. Luckily I have a few wood platforms that I built out of 2x4's (I jack my car onto them when changing my oil since I don't trust jack stands in earthquake regions). I just put the unit on top of a ~12" tall platform and was able to get the extra reach I needed. I also had to make my own window plate out of a sheet of acrylic since the window I wanted to use was narrower than the included plates would fit, but still wide enough to fit the hose.

Did you find a way to clean inside the fan grate? I have a used one from a local outlet store that's kind of dirty inside, but I haven't looked to see if it can be easily accessed. I was thinking of just purchasing some long q-tips and going at it with some isopropyl alcohol.

Anyone know the wattage of this device. I saw 1300 and then 2600 mentioned on other sites. Trying to know if a 1600watt/2000 surge watts generator could run it?
I have one and at max fan and setting it 15F below ambient it got to about 900w. As another post indicated it has soft start, so shouldn't have inrush issues.

I got this from Woot too when it wasn't "scratch and dent" but had to return the first unit due to it making this annoying high pitched whirring noise in the compressor. The second one was better and I didn't want to bother returning again. The first unit had deep gouges in the top panel, and the second one had mold on the hoses so they are definitely very used.

Performance wise it does cool quite well. It's quieter overall than a non-inverter model, but the noise profile ca be slightly more annoying in low fan mode due to that whirring noise. The hose design is bulky but is a but more durable than another dual hose I had, which had the tabs break off the hose connectors to the window panel.

You can hear the the sound it makes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnsVDysGw_I

i have 2 of these units and i found a hack to empty the drain pan without rolling them or ever moving them. Buy one of the automatic irrigation pieces for 30$, and have them hooked in. Have been using this setup for an year and it lets me control the temp of the room without turning on the heat / cool for the entire home.

I wouldn't buy something like this from Woot. My last 3 purchases have been meh. They are all 75%, meaning, not fully broken but fully not satisfying. The last purchase Yale lock had a dead motor.

I found the Midea version of this unit at my local Costco in Denver for $299.97 which is a great price.

these "used" ones are a roll of the dice. they've been thrown around quite a bit, even if they don't show egregious physical damage

what ends up being common, is that they work for a year, then you go to use it the next year and compressor won't kick on anymore or drawing undercurrent. fan will work though

In one of the photos, it claims it pulls 11.9 amps. I don't own one but from quick math.. 120V x 11.9A = 1428 watts.
Edit: I'm curious if it has a soft-start feature. Otherwise, you may need an inverter than can handle 2x the surge.
It's a variable-speed aka inverter heat pump, so it spins up slowly and doesn't pull a ton of current on startup. So yeah should be no problem on that generator. IIRC, on the AC low mode it runs at about 300 watts, at full blast >1000 watts.

I have two of the Midea version of these from Costco and one of the Toshiba version from Woot. The vent on the Woot one was slightly busted but repairable, otherwise clean. This is a great deal if you get a good one but there's some risk.

I got one of these refurbished from Woot on a previous deal. It was in good shape except for a big scratch on it.
It's a great unit if you can get a good copy.

I have a similar Midea unit w/o heat, and also a window inverter unit. Used the app to turn units on/off, but didn't know there was a scheduling. Thanks so much!
Just a heads up, i have a Midea dehumidifier, and I had to update the firmware for all of the scheduling features to show up. Like, I think you could only turn it on at a certain time, but couldn't turn it off at a certain time until it was updated.

Scratch and dent ? The heck?? Let's be honest. It should be scratch and dropped.
Scratch and ..NOPE. Not gonna bother with that type of lottery when the chance of losing is so high. Woot = Won't

The Last three S&D items I got from woot all looked brand new to me and turned put to be fantastic deals for price offered. The latest I got was a Shark cordless pet vacuum that usually goes for around 200-250 for 70 bucks. Didn't think it would be all that great, but I couldnt even find where the scratch pr dent was lol

If you get a fully working model, you will never get a better price for a 14k, inverter, dual hose portable AC. It's a no brainer
