FYI Anova has been in the news lately for abandoning older Bluetooth device support, and making their app subscription based starting August 21st.
They've since walked back the statement allowing grandfathered devices access to the app, but any new accounts after Aug 21st will need a subscription to use it.

So their Bluetooth based devices are no longer supported?
This model may be a good deal, since it will work without the app. If it were a Joule, you'd be SOL. I'll bet Anova's future models will require it, too.
I can't think of very many good reasons why you'd need an app-controlled sous-vide cooker, anyway.

IA sous vide still a thing. I thought they were fads like air fryers
Mine is the Bluetooth+Wifi version. We use it every few months for cooking steaks mostly. Have done other meats too, but mostly steaks. Works well and is very convenient. I've done the Wifi feature once where I cooked it on my way home from work, with the meat in an ice bath all day. I will just keep it and continuing using it without an app, though I hope someone figures out, or Anova allows, it to be used locally via Bluetooth, Wifi, or Smart Home for notifications.
