Considering what I paid for 500 gig external drives, that's a good deal. And with a USB extension cable, it would be very versatile
If you just need an NVME external enclosure or even a hot swap dock, they make those too.

IMO these are way more convenient because you don't have to deal with cables. It has usb A on one side and usb C on the other side. It's essentially a multi purpose nvme usb thumb drive. I just had a spare 500gb sk hynix drive laying around and it's been solid for the last year

I've seen stuff, recently, about not using SSDs for long term back ups, becaus ethey need electricity to keep the data and that eventually fizzles out, unless connected to power every so often. Interesting, if you'd like to look it up.
