I like to always keep 100 feet between me and any body of water during disc golf - if that means a triple bogie I'm content with that.

Maybe the Paige Pierce Fierce 170-172 Gram Putter, ESP Buzzz SS 177+ Gram Mid Range and Z Cicada 167-169 Gram Driver? Someone else might come out and tell me I made a poor recommendation lol

That said, this Innova set is basically what most beginners get. I kept mine that I let friends use when we go or that I risk on water courses. The plastic is a tad cheaper, but it will save you about $12 over the above. It still has a 4.7/5 with 7400 reviews Smilie

Yes.

Links are all wonky, but from the list you'd want

2x Roaches putting putters

1x PP Fierce throwing putter

1x Zone approach disc

1x Buzz mid range

2x Cicada

Why 2x putters and fairway driver? So you can do over and practice more.

But Innova Factory Store on Friday with free disc code on Twitter would be the play.

2x DX Aviars

Star Aviar X3

R-Pro Pig approach disc

Star Wombat3 midrange

2x GStar Hawkeye

Plus whatever the free disc is and ask for a 160g ish weight.

There's no testing it out. Throwing circles at things is fun.

If you had to get three discs it'd be Innova F2 Friday sale and get:

1x DX Aviar 174ish grams

1x Star Wombat3 172ish grams

1x GStar Hawkeye 160-165 grams

Get whatever the free disc is.

I throw all MVP/Axiom after a few seasons of survival of the fittest and it's expensive and Innova has superb discs in all slots always available in all weights and plastics at a great price. This is advice I'd give to me starting today.

These are good recommendations. DX (cheap) plastic is good/preferred for putting but go to star for your longer discs. Good to stop at 7 speed initially.

You are at the edge of the rabbit hole, my friend. A starter set from Innova will be fine for now and dirt cheap for your first couple rounds. For a little bit more flexibility, you could actually get two different Innova starter sets (they make one in cheap DX plastic, and one in nicer Star plastic) and end up with 6 discs. You also might want a cheap bag to carry them. A fairly "complete" bag to most intermediates might be around 9-12 discs, because you probably want an understable, neutral, and overstable disc for every range (putter, midrange, and driver).

Then again, there's an old timer at my local course who carries around nothing but two drivers (he putts with one of them) and he absolutely carves the place up completely shitfaced drunk the entire round.

But some people buy 100+ discs and carry 25+ for every round. There are discs that go straight, discs that fade left, discs that turn right, discs that roll, discs that glide, discs that rip out of your hand and start burning left before it even feels like you've finished your throw. Different plastics for different weather. Drivers, fairway drivers, putters, midranges, approach, utility, even rubber discs that flop around...

And to make you even more confused, the properties of the discs change over time. The DX plastic in the cheap starter set will feel like a completely different set of discs after a few rounds of hitting trees and crashing into the dirt. As you get into more expensive plastics, they typically keep their properties for longer--but all discs "beat in" and start behaving differently as you throw them more. So some people will carry 3-5 of the same exact disc in different stages of its life.

For your first ever round, the cheap DX starter set will be fine. But I can almost promise you that you will go to the store within a month to buy more discs to try, especially if you have any friends that play who can help coach you through some of the early speedbumps. When you rip that first full-flex flight, you'll never be the same.

I'm a beginner and these are the recommendations I found.

Putter: Judge, Pure, Sensei, Pig
Midrange: Origin, Mako3, Paradox and Buzz
Fairway Driver: River, Essence, Passion, Diamond
Wait on distance drivers but the Avenger SS is recommended
Dynamic Disc Trooper is a cheap bag that holds plenty and is decent quality. You can also just get a small satchel but I like to have room for a couple of beers.

You can play a whole round with a buzz alone at the start just to get your feet wet. Hopefully not the disc

Newbie's, aim way right, especially near water, until discs begin to straighten out. It is the normal flight path so don't sweat it.

I just have WAY too many hobbies. Wouldnt mind playing once in a while, but dont have the time/space/money for another.
