39" at 3440x1440 = 95.6 PPI. That's a yikes. And they still want $900 for this thing? Not a deal. There are far better options out there.
For reference, an average 27" 1440p 16:9 panel is 118.8 PPI. That's a 20% reduction in crispness.

I had ordered the 44.5" version of this but decided against it and cancelled my order on pickup day once I saw it on display in-store. PPI concerns were valid, and I was ignoring what people said online about them. Games look pretty good, but doing literally anything else like web browsing or text and it looks like a monitor from 15 years ago

This is misleading, because it doesn't take into account how far you have to sit from this vs the 27" display.

Also, I have the 45" version of this display and I personally feel that 40" would be the sweet spot at this resolution. The distance where this becomes irrelevant is around 35 inches from the screen, but bumping the scaling by 10% in Windows you can actually get closer than that.

people rating this thing solely off the numbers clearly have not used it.

In the store you walk up to it and stand what? 20" away? If your desk is pretty deep, then the PPI concerns disappear. My Desk is 32" front to back and I use the 45" for work, gaming, and creative things daily without issue.

I don't think it's selling well. It's been on sale more than it has been at regular price. You can tell by the graph above. I think for most people if it's not the PPI it's the curve. It's pretty aggressive.

It's not like that. Everything in the web browser background was blotchy and pixellated, I could see the pink and gray dots on the text. Ultimately it's a low res OLED issue

That was the feed, Best Buy puts a crappy feed on it and doesn't even turn on protection for burning. Nothing looks like that when it has a good source on it.

This isn't the newest version for anyone confused. The GR95 was 2023, the GS95 was April 2024 and the GS96 came out not long ago. The GS96 is a huge upgrade over the GR95 and a worthy upgrade over the GS95. Unfortunately still HDR400, but it's not nearly as noticeable on 1440p monitors. Early leaks from RTINGS show the GS96 hovering around the same scores as the G9 OLED, which got fantastic marks. Currently on sale at Best Buy until 8/26. I'm about to go get one myself 🙂.

Is the GS96 45 inches? Would that make a good work monitor? Word and Web browsers? What's a good sale price on it and how low will it go?

From what I'm seeing the 96 is the 45. I don't see a GS96 version of the 39.
