  • About this Product:
    • Featuring the smallest head size in the Clash family, this stick delivers pinpoint targeting on full cuts.
    • It also packs a 325+ swingweight, which provides the needed mass to get the ball moving through the court.
  • In addition to updating this racquet with a 16x20 string pattern, Wilson reinforces the upper hoop to create a more solid and responsive hitting surface. As with the first generation of Clash racquets, the 98 v2 is defined by Wilson's innovative frame technology, originally called FreeFlex. Renamed FORTYFIVE, this patented frame technology enables the racquet to bend (and soften impact) across a wider geometry of stoke paths. The payoff is greater comfort when addressing the ball at extreme angles, a fact that makes the Clash very appealing to topspin players in search of a more tendon friendly option. Recommended to strong intermediates and advanced players.

FYI
I have received the racket. I just called TW to confirm. Donating old tennis rackets to charity is not mandatory, it is purely voluntary.

Thanks after doing more reading I think I will hold off and wait for a different racquet. I got the Boom MP from earlier this year and it's been such a nice racquet to play with, that my gf wants to take it so I was looking for a replacement.
Demo first. I believe at TW, frames at the $100 price point are generally not available for demo. Otherwise, the older generation Head Speed or the Prince Warrior racquets that TW sells are easy to use.

An excellent racquet at an incredible price. I played with the v1 for two years and recently upgraded to the v2. As a 4.5 player, I find this to be a fantastic choice. It's a "softer" frame so it absorbs shocks well. A good choice if you're a heavy top spinner with a western or semi-western grip and are prone to tennis elbow. I used to experience tennis elbow pain after a few hard hits, but now I don't at all. I use it with Tecnifibre Triax 16G strings. I break strings more often but I'm okay with that. Better the strings than my elbow pain. 😬

Is this a good racket for a complete beginner?
Tennis Warehouse will state the skill level in the production description.
For this racquet it says the following in bold: "Recommended to strong intermediates and advanced players."

To select the free synthetic gut 16 string job, choose String Specials under Select a String Category, then go to the bottom of the Select a String dropdown list.

Tbh no harm in a beginner using it as well.

newbie question, is that luxilon power 17/1.25 string ($4.95, save $10) a good choice for this racquet? thanks.
Sure. That would work.
