I'm tempted, but then I need to buy paddles, life vest, fishing stuff.. and a way to bring it to a river. Maybe I should just try to rent first lol

Mind the weight limit. 250 includes you and all of your gear, and you generally don't want to exceed 70-80% of the boats max capacity. Meaning you + all your gear should be close to 200lbs max.

manufacturers website has the Max Weight Capacity at 300 lb - 136.08 kg. So 250 is probably already has a safety margin factored in. It can be carried by one hand by an average person (minus the fishing gears and other add on stuff of course). The model was recommended by a friend who owns one. I picked up one at our local rei. Ended up order a second one for family and friends in case one wants to join me. Have been on water (lake, pond and slow moving river) more than once, caught a few here and there. A pretty decent start up kayak if you are on a budget. I will probably upgrade down the road for a steadier one but for now I am enjoying the kayaking time on the water as a first time kayaker. One last note, I can stuff two of them in a family van (All doors closed afterwards), so not lifting to to the roof rack for transportation, this is one advantage of this ten footer.

Tested this exact kayak at around 275lbs and it performed fine... Even with a boat wakes and head wind. Kayak capacity are typically underrated not overrated because there's liability. This kayak could safely hold 300 lbs.

10 FT is too small for a grown man. Should do well for an average size woman or teenager.
From experience, this kayak can easily support someone 6'6" or shorter and up to 300lbs.

it's about performance and a 10' is a slug on the water, especially with someone over 200lbs. A 12-15' sit on is much preferred for good tracking, glide, and speed.
