The MSI Center driver updates was useful and seemed to download and install about five or six updates for various devices. From there all seemed pretty good until I started getting multiple Windows 11 Blue Screen Of Deaths (BSOD).
Looking at the Windows Event Viewer, I noticed the event prior to crashing the system was " driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort2". Seems like something in the SDD subsystem may be causing an error. After some research, I downloaded the Western Digital "Digital Dashboard" app since my SDD is a WD SN580 Blue 2TB. This app found the SDD healthy but there was a new firmware update. I applied the update using the app without issue. Link to the WD Digital Dashboard: https://support-en.wd.com/app/ans...9#subject
I also went to the MSI Center and used the Live Updates option, which found three more updates, two regarding Intel components. After installing all these updates, I've not had any other BSOD events.
Despite the need for these updates, which I consider normal for any new PC, I like this machine. Surprisingly, it has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 as well as two USB C external ports. I downloaded the MSI motherboard manual, which is very useful in understanding all features this board offers.
Doesn't Costco provide a limited return window for computers? I thought it was 90-days.
Did you try to do a fresh install of Windows 11 instead?

It's 90 days from Costco, but you have the entire manufacturer warranty after that.
The point being, if there's still an issue with the processor after 3 months, you either didn't apply the BIOS update that fixes the issue or people have become very tight lipped about the issue all of a sudden.

I've never had a problem with either brand, but some might prefer MSI.
It does look like the heatsink on this system blocks one of the RAM slots, so you'll have to buy a different one if you ever wanted to populate all four slots.
Ultimately, the better deal is the better buy.
Necro time! Any suggestions on how to identify a heatsink that would allow for all 4 slots to be filled?
Some of these big, honking pieces of copper and aluminum have massive fans sticking out of them that literally prevent you from fitting the RAM in.
If you want to trade one headache for another, you can always go with an AiO water cooler. Those are very low profile and keep the board very neat.
I recently purchased a ThermalRight 360mm kit for $50 on Amazon and it's working well on my i9. I'm kind of astounded, as the average price on water cooling kits was historically over $100.
