Tylenol 8-hr and regular Tylenol have the same active ingredient, but the tablet composition is different. Tylenol 8-hr has an extended release portion to allow the medication to last 8 hours without rising to a toxic level. 1300mg (650mg x 2) of Tylenol 8-hr is safe. 1300mg of regular Tylenol is not. For a more extreme example, taking an entire week's worth of medication at once would not be safe unless the meds were in a special formulation that slowly delivered the active ingredient over that time frame. Do not exceed the max dose of Tylenol. Your liver will object!

I thought the limit was 4 grams per 24 hours?

500 mg is the Extra Strength 6 hour version
325 mg is regular strength 4 hour version
625 mg is Arthritis Strength 8 hour version
