I disagree that $130 is very realistic on the 515 (it requires the seller to drop it to $150 and then also offer a 15% + coupon on Garmin, where Garmin is often excluded from coupons - and even then, it has to be in stock, so don't hold your breath on $130)... $150 for the RT515, however, is more realistic a few times per year. Also, if you don't ride on the road and only ride on trails, then the RCT715 is more of a luxury item. If, however, you ride on the road, then the value quotient changes quite a bit. You're being facetious about it's only helpful after somebody dies. Most on-the-road cyclists do not die in accidents, but many do get seriously injured and many guilty drivers either flee (ie, hit-and-run) or they lie about what happened in the accident. The built-in camera can be invaluable in such situations.
I want a Varia, but from everything I have seen in terms of reviews the RTL515 is the best version. The camera doesn't get great reviews, and probably wasn't worth double the RTL515, but is it worth $100 more? I know if I buy this there will be a sale on the RTL515 right after!
This is a great product but it's looooong due for a refresh.

Nope - this baby was $400 MSRP — and the best price you would usually see was within about $50 less than MSRP.

515 goes down to $150 a few times per year. Some retailers may let you combine their coupons with the discount, so it's realistic to get one for $130. A camera will not prevent an accident but may show how you died. To me, this feature is worthless and draining the battery.

There's numerous other reputable 3rd party sellers on Amazon at $299

Think you missed the point of my comment. There are a bunch of retailers that have dropped the price on this model to $299 (just google "Garmin RCT715"). I didn't take the time to list all the other reputable sellers, but this is clearly an authorized Garmin (manufacturer) sale. That said, the point of my comment to the other guy was that $400 is the MSRP on this model, and not $300. Prior to today, you'd rarely find this model less than $350... and often you'd find it at the full retail price of $399.99.

Which retailers normally let you combine the discounts?

I got my 515 last month from Amazon when Garmin discounted it to $150 and Discover/AmEx was giving add'l % off as an Amazon prime promo (I got $15 off $75 - lucky ones got 30% off). So my total was $135.

Cabelas was offering 2 x $10 coupons for signing up for their emails/txts, so that was $130 but they stopped offering those coupons.

There was an instance last year when QVC (or HSN?) offered it for $150, then you could use a $30 coupon plus like 10% CB bringing that down to $110ish but haven't seen that since.

Hmm same. I saw this and was thinking of upgrading but my 515 works well and I mounted a ghost xl action camera to my saddle bag and that set up works well for now.

I have the one without the camera and just love it. It works really well on letting you know if there is a car behind you.

What, you dont wanna see how you died after you died?!?!?!?

And could be handy in the case that they dont finish you off and you need to prove their guilt. Or maybe your wife can use it to get a payout after she pulls the plug.

Would this not be a useful anti theft device?
