Beginning MONDAY August 26, Subway will sell any footlong sandwich for $6.99 — a steep discount considering that some footlongs can cost as much as $14 in some cities. It's the privately held chain's latest attempt at luring back customers who are balking at rising fast food prices and spending less when they do go out.

The deal has a catch: The offer is only available via its app or website with the code "699FL" and ends on September 8.

Man. I thought maybe it was just me, but I've also felt like they're skimping the couple of times I ate there this year. The veggies were cut noticeably thinner and there was less of them. The chicken sandwich seemed to have much less chicken than ever before. I figured maybe it was because I used a BOGO coupon? Either way, last time I threw away half my sandwich because it just wasn't even worth eating. Didn't taste good enough to justify eating poorly. I told myself never again.
Lol, do people forgot that inflation exists. I def agree with people that companies are greedy as hell, but expecting a price point you saw in 2008 is ridiculous even by slickdeals standards. Something is going to have to be cut, either the price is going to increase or they're going to start shaving of the amount of "value" you get for you sandwich. Not that I feel bad, nor should anyone, they made their bed first when they started overcharging for sandwiches in the first place.

For anyone curious as to why Subway has taken a nose dive, they were sold to a hedge fund, Roark Capital, in mid-2023.

yup - and that's why the price went from $5 to $12-14 for the same low quality sub... now that they're suffering the backlash and closing down stores (23 so far) forcing them to drop prices, I'd say continue to bypass them until they drop the prices to below $5...

it's not inflation - it's greed...
They were bought out almost exactly a year ago, so no, the price changes had already happened by then. The company that bought them is also the owner of Jimmy John's and Schlotzsky's as well as Dunkin', Baskin-Robbins, Sonic, Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Auntie Anne's, Carvel, Cinnabon, Jamba, McAlister's, and Moe's Southwest Grill. So I don't think they are trying to squeeze the money out and dump it, they might actually know what they are doing.

I clicked on "View Participating Locations", selected the closest one and it still doesn't work.

Sorry, promo not supported at this restaurant.

Qdoba died so Subway could suck.

I used to love subway until a crook swiped clean $60 that I loaded in the app. I couldn't find any customer service number to call, the only way to reach them was either email or FB/twitter. I didn't have one, so I had to open an account just to get my complaint, but even then, no resolution. I stopped going to Subway altogether after that.

It's a $60 that I'll never get back, $20/week that they will never see.

The last time I had Subway they where trying to promote that expensive menu by giving out free sandwiches at participating locations. I tried every sandwich that day. I stopped going like many. They priced themselves into a better sub category without providing it.
This. Who is going to pay premium prices for something that is basic

Same here. Bought one during the last BOGO and it was pathetic. The roll is definitely smaller and the amounts of product put in the sandwich was so minimal I also didn't eat the 2nd half. Bland and unappealing.

I wonder if when they have promos like BOGO or $7 subs if they cut back on ingredients and maybe make smaller rolls so as to not lose as much money? Plus, when you order in the app, you're not there to watch (and correct) them. They make it minimum, wrap it up and you pick it up.

My BOGO was great. I was hungry. It was huge. And I ate it.

Afterwards I had regrets since it was not as satsifying as Jersey Mikes.

I went recently for the footlong bogo deal. Bread size changed. It was much smaller, in girth. I don't know if it was a one off., but i was disappointed.
Same for me. Skinny sub. I never eat the whole thing but I was easily able to now

I'm with others, subway footlong subs are 5.00 subs, most i'd pay is 5.99. I used to always get the meatball subs but I don't know if they changed the size of the meatballs, but they seemed to be smaller, maybe they made them smaller and have you add the extra meat option to fill the sub with more meat. Just didn't seem as filling as it once did. I only get meatballs with extra sauce, no cheese, but still get charged the same as if it had cheese, 5.99 is the max I'd pay. With the dodger 5.00 panda express deal that's been happening lately, I have just been getting that and it is filling.

For those looking for BOGO or $5/footlong after Aug 25. They have FLDRINK promo code that's FREE Footlong when you buy a footlong with a Fountain Drink (Exp: 9/12). In my location, CCC and Meatball footlongs are $7.99, so 2 footlongs and a small $1.99 drink is $9.98 pre-tax, which is like $4.99/footlong PLUS a free drink. Yeah, Subways these days are slightly skinnier, but $5/footlong still a good deal.

It was 6.99 just two years ago and now you need an app and only eat when they decide when we eat.

As soon as Jared left Subway for greener pastures, Subway's pricing really skyrocketed.

There is no way I'm going to install an app in order to buy fast food at a fair price.

If you can't just let me pull in at random, order and pay at the window; then I'm out for good.
