fwiw, this stuff does "go bad". having bought the 2" version previously, much of what was unused is no longer unusable as the backing is fused with the sticky bits.
that said, I totally just bought this, because it's awesome. i won't be so stingy with it this time...
I've got it holding up some big ass power bricks on the underside of my desk, going on 3 years now without any issue. I don't move the power bricks ever but they do get very warm which isn't ideal for glue adhesion, still no issues so far though 🤞

oh, to be clear... this stuff, once "in use" is just fine and is rock solid. I'm merely talking about the bit I had sitting in the shed for future use that can no longer be used as the plastic covering of the sticky bits is fused. every place I've used it is holding up just fine.
great price. i may have to bite as i'll regret spending more in the future. i usually prefer the 2" as i can always cut that down, but yes, once in awhile the 1" is handy.
as for velcro vs other bradns--velcro is always solid--but i've also had good success from generics for most applications. i once had an application where the velcro was attached to electronics and got very hot--then failed. so i found another 3m product that was superstrong would not fail in heat.

So, I guess I gotta throw away my velcro from 20 years ago..... nah
[insert curse word], i thought of 3 different riggings I've done over the past year, all because i never considered velcro/hookloop. i feel dumb. in for 2.
Works good but in time it will fail due to heat and adhesive failure… mine average a year or so.
Note: I'm not talking high muffler heat but just summer garage heat
