I still however will not switch to Nikon despite having really good camera bodies, what they lack is more lenses and available 3rd party lenses. Yes I can adopt old lenses but that will be too big.

Z8 fits my hand better than the Z6 series, but can't justify $3000 for my skill level. I'm waiting for a $2000 refurb Z6III (since I do sports and wildlife) to upgrade from the D7500.
D780 prices seem to have bottomed two months ago and now moving up. The deal was better 2 months ago.

I also recently picked up a ZV-E1 brand new for $1,600 which I use for video. And capable for taking photos for online publishing. Very small but powerful camera, which Nikon does not have an equivalent at the moment. Nikon also does not have a cinema lime like fx3 or fx30, I think Nikon is still a photography brand and has very good video capabilities for hybrid shooters but nothing for pure video centric users. Z6 iii has very good video specs but then sacrificed the dynamic range.
Yeah D780 and D850 is coming down in price, but its still heavy and lacks IBIS, but very good if you're only taking photos.

Re: the Z lenses, for most use cases the lens lineup is pretty complete. But to your point, the third-party support is rather weak at the moment.
The real issue is that the Z lenses are rather pricey. 3rd party support would help lower prices. I'm sure Nikon knows this hence them dragging their feet in this area. Why intentionally allow competition when you can have a monopoly and charge full retail?
