These things aren't unreasonably difficult to do DIY repairs/maintenance. Yeah it might be costly to replace the main board but a wheel motor? Vacuum motor? Battery? All lower cost parts than your shipping estimates to have mfr do the repairs

Is the obstacle avoidance on this functional? My floor is full of toddler toys. I don't use my s6 as much as I should because I don't have time or energy to constantly tidy. Does this model reliably solve this problem?

I don't know for sure but this model has LIDAR, that's the MAXV benefit. I think as far as obstacle avoidance goes that's as good as it gets currently.

Are you speaking from experience or from seeing it elsewhere? I'm not sure what the warranty was but my s7 max ultraV had problems docking after 1.5 years. I think it's out of warranty and they had me ship it back for repairs. I was not asked to pay for shipping. I did hate the initial back and forth troubleshooting and going through their known problem instructions for like a week before they asked me to send it back.
