Yes, Linksys LN1301 is a terrific router with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB of flash. Insane! I thought my Netgear R7800 with 512 MB RAM is pretty good until the specs on LN301 blows the R7800 out of the water and is a tri-band router as well!

With wireless mesh (instructions below), it's one heck of a deal and blows DECO AX5000 deal out of the water, imho.

EDIT: UPDATED instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.

Anybody else having constant WiFi drops? I switched my Xfinity XB8 to bridge mode and had the router running for no more than 24 hours and the drops of WiFi were terrible!

Got mine and set 2 up for a mesh system with wired-backhaul. Works great so far. No drops in connection. I need to do some more testing with the bands transitioning. But so far so good.

The Linksys website says it cannot be used as a mesh system.
Has anyone used this with AT&T fiber?
Read the thread, not what the Linksys website says.

The USB port is not enabled on the stock firmware. IDK if they will do something with it in DD-WRT because I've not followed the updates.
Seriously???
So one of the most imp features is an USB 3 port which this router already has but they have disabled it?
I mean how dumb can humans go?

I had difficulty getting 2nd to connect at node followed steps each time reset bunch.

Either app or using web interface. After perhaps dozen tries it seems to be working with wireless backhaul great.

Not sure what made setup take but don't give up

2 WiFi mesh for my very small house did solve WiFi speed issues in yard. Been so many years since I've trusted Linksys hardware and software I'm still expecting issues

Not sure I'll even benefit from changing to wired backhaul but I have house wired so I'll try it.

For those of you who have ddwrt or openwrt on this, do those allow 80 or 160 mhz wide channels? Stock only works with 40mhz, which makes it slower than my eeros...

OpenWRT lets you set 80MHz. The SoC doesn't support 160MHz.

Dd-wrt allows you to set 80Mhz.

Does USB port work with openwrt or DD-Wrt?

If anyone got mesh to work with openwrt, was it using 802.11s? In the past, I had trouble getting mesh to work with linksys routers on openwrt. Even WDS didn't work reliably.

edit: it looks like I can do this via the app... now the question is how bad of an idea is it to change the SSID and pass to the same as my existing mesh network? they will be on separate floors and I don't care too much about roaming and handoffs more about constant connection...

Question: I am trying to set this up as a separate mesh network and I have connected the parent to my original router.

How do I access the linksys setup page? I have internet access, solid purple light and I am connected to the linksys network, but if I type in the login address it takes me to my main routers setup page and not the linksys setup page? How do I find this address? TIA

Double routers like that can be tricky if they both want to default to the same ip address ranges. I'd try disconnecting the WAN on the Linksys while staying connected to it's LAN port. You won't have internet access at that point obviously but shouldn't have any problems with it pulling up you other routers admin page. Then you can change the Linksys settings to use 192.168.2.xxx. Haven't gotten one so I don't know exactly where it is but it should be in the settings someplace. Once you've done that you should be able to hook back up the WAN and still finish the setup. Alternatively, you could go into your existing router and make a similar change. Either way, getting them to both not being trying to use 192.168.1.1 for the router address should fix your problems.

What are you trying to setup this separate mesh network for? Putting the Linksys behind your other router means that the stuff on the linksys will still be able to access stuff on your other routers network still.
