Yes, Linksys LN1301 is a terrific router with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB of flash. Insane! I thought my Netgear R7800 with 512 MB RAM is pretty good until the specs on LN301 blows the R7800 out of the water and is a tri-band router as well!

With wireless mesh (instructions below), it's one heck of a deal and blows DECO AX5000 deal out of the water, imho.

EDIT: UPDATED instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.

set it as an Access Point.
1. Disable DHCP (optional)
2. Set the device to Bridge Mode under Connectivity tab
3. Connect cable from your router to a LAN port.
4. Get some nail polished and a round sticker to cover the annoying flashing right light.
5. Click the 'AC' at the bottom of the page to see the detail configurations of wifi.

Thank you very much. I followed this to set 2 routers as AP. (only use #1 to set the main one in bridge mode. )
What's your upstream router? is it this model, or something else? I'm looking to do the same... turns out one just wasn't enough to replace my GL.Inet Beryl. Might get another at these prices to throw into the other side of the house.

It does. Go to connectivity - click CA at the. Bottom right. Go to wifi settings - you should see 2.5g, and two 5Gs. You can disable any radios or manually change frequency.
Thanks - found it - forgot to come back to edit. in the stock firmware, can you change chan. on wifi?

Yes, you can change the Channel but you have to click the CA link at the footer on the page. Once CA link is clicked, you will see options to channels for 2.4 + 5 GHz bands.

I set mine to 6 for 2.4 GHz and 44 and 153 for the lower and higher 5 GHz bands respectively.

For Mesh setup on stock - are you all keeping same SSID name to both 2.4 and 5ghz bands ? I have been using 2 different SSID's in current setup- but then wasn't on mesh setup. I like to connect to devices which supports 5ghz bands and they work better. UI warned be about 2 different names being issue on Mesh. I will be doing hardwired (not wireless ) mesh with linksys.

You can have different SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. One SSID for 2.4 and the second SSID for both the 5 GHz bands. I have a wireless mesh with this setup and no issues!

Why can I buy this today on Amazon (also from Woot!) and get it a week before the one I ordered from Woot! all the way back on 8/28? Makes no sense (and it pisses me off).

Are you sure that it will? I ordered from Woot and have an estimated delivery date. Then a day or two later ordered from Amazon and got a date range with the last date later than the stimated delivery date from Woot.

I managed to set this up as an AP, but the top light shows as magenta. Everything seems to work though. Does anyone know why it stays magenta? Thanks.

I find that Amazon is really good at logistics and delivery. I bought one from Woot and UPS was supposed to deliver Wed and then was delayed a day. Then today I got a note that it was delayed again a day. I called UPS as asked what is going on. They said they put it on the wrong truck 2 days in a row, So I went to UPS and picked it up. Stuff on amazon comes the day they say it will

I have officially hit 700mbps on the built in speed checks in the web login, but I only pay for 500mbps. Is this normal? to just be able to blow by the limit on your ISP plan? i have only changed two things so far, so please if anyone has any other recommendations on how I can get this stock firmware LN1301 parent and node to be even better please let me know.

So far I have turned off or removed express forwarding and I just turned off client steering and it seems like both gave me a decent jump, more so the removal of express forwarding.

I remember people talking about making the SSID the same and also recall talk of people splitting up the 2 and 5 bands. How do i setup the wireless backhaul becasue my parent is by the only ethernet I have and the child is far away?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Did your order from 8/28 ship? Mine from 8/29 still hasn't shipped.

And the Amazon order from the same day, sold via Woot was delivered yesterday.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.
Do you have to hit the "Add Wireless" button if child node will stay wired?

I've had the same failures with Amazon delivery, so sh*t can happen either way. And Amazon customer service is useless for their own deliveries.
