A medium blizzard is $7 where I live. These days I just go to Cook-Out and get a shake.

My local Dairy Queen will not take the DQ app. Isn't that weird though?
I get that there are franchises out there that allow a purchase but using the brand to their benefit and then not honoring coupons/promotions is a tactic that ruins the brand.

Subway is the biggest example I've seen, it seems DQ is becoming more common too.

This is why I quit going to subway. That and the low quality. I used to go to DQ all the time but the insane prices for ice cream and chicken tenders pushed me away.

Why would I want a Blizzard when I can pay 3 dollars more to get a very high quality milkshake from Salt n Straw? I mean for heavens sake, DQ can't even legally call anything they sell ice cream, it's so far removed from actual food. That's why you see weasel words like 'frozen treat' in all their garbage. They're so bad they've tried to expand to Europe several times and completely failed each time.

I'll genuinely never understand why anyone would want to consume pseudofoods like this to save less money than a coffee costs. Maybe it made some sense when these were $3 or $4, but $8?? More folks need to learn to stop screwing themselves over and venture outside of their routine habits. I guarantee you something much better than this exists in your town for about the same price. Maybe not in BOGO form, but I'd rather have 1 of something great than 2 of something that is more air and stabilizers than milk fat.

Never buy something that mimics ice cream, unless it's sold as 'ICE CREAM'... Ice Cream has specific legal definitions. 'Blizzard' and such is just a code word for 'chemicals and additives'.
The legal definition of ice cream doesnt mean jack shit other than it has a minimum level of fat content.

Just because it can't be legally called ice cream doesnt mean it's not ice cream to society.

All of these people telling me that 'Ice Cream' only means it needs a certain fat percentage (not true). Not a single one of these people show us the actual ingredients in a Blizzard.

THIS IS NOT ICE CREAM!!!

Blizzard ingredients:

Not commenting on the food, I enjoy DQ. But their prices are like other fast food, getting ridiculous. That's why most FF places are coming out with these 5 buck deals to try and get people back. Last time I went to DQ, I ordered a medium blizzard for my wife and a PB parfait for me. The guy in the speaker said "14.69." I thought he had the wrong order and had him repeat it back. Got the receipt and it was correct. Last time I went to DQ. There is a mom and pop frozen custard place nearby that makes it on site and has awesome treats for about the same price. Either that or Costco. 2 strawberry sundaes 6 bucks.

These days I just MAKE a shake at home. Just put a scoop of ice cream ($0.75) into a blender with some ice and some free maple syrup packets.

That too. Walmart brand ice cream is actually pretty decent, I like their "homemade vanilla" flavor. But otherwise my favorite brand is Breyer's for the taste and minimal ingredients.

Real ice cream is actually expensive to make. Unless you make it like your grandparents used to.

Follow and salt and straw recipe and you're in it for $10 for a quart. Takes good but it's dumb. Sugar is bad for you. You know the drill.

And it's not even real ice cream. 1/2 a smashed up cookie and some soft serve mixed up in a shot glass sized cup for that ridiculous price. But they hold it upside down so that makes it all worth it.
Do NOT disparage the Blizzard!
