would go for a higher-end model like N305/i3-12100u for less than $80 more - getting 5x CPU performance.

Might be okay as pure web viewer as a secondary computer. But chrome is about to block much of the good features of adblockers with manifest v3. At least with a 8gb machine, you can run firefox via linux or android container.

Back in 2017, got the Acer 14-Inch Chromebook with the Celeron N3160, died of battery expansion after around 3 years as an always on device.
