If you like this, I highly suggest Eureka. They're basically sister shows.

Definitely equal. They even have crossover episodes. Watch them together.

For anyone that played the video game Control, this is similar in concept.

I remember really enjoying the series and liking it more than Eureka although I don't recall how the series ended (but I don't remember a specific jump the shark episode either).

Does this ever get cheap on Bluray? I bought Eureka on BluRay and was hoping this may see a BluRay deal? I haven't been following it, does anyone know what a low price to hold out for might be?

If you like (whimsical, less-grounded) Sci-Fi, then Eureka's better, instead of the more fantasy cursed-thingamabob that is W13.

Episodes vary, but on average, I recall Eureka had more character relationship drama (which makes it kinda more serialized) than the situation comedy/campy of W13.

That said, W13 has a broad and decently defined ensemble of characters. In fact, what makes W13 are the performances- the natural delivery of Allison Scagliotti (Claudia), the she-played-everything CCH Pounder (Irene), the accented grace of Jaime Murray (Helena), plus no less than 4 veterans from Star Trek.

IMO, I find more W13 episodes more (re)watchable (fewer negative scenes) but it is lighter.

Special effects average out the same as I recall, but there's more wardrobe in W13.

Edit: Not that equal, since Eureka is more Sci-Fi. "The Librarians" 2014 series has the same concept, plus a super-power in Lindy Booth (Cassandra). Fans of Rebecca Romijn (X-Men, ST: DSC/SNW) have 42 episodes of bingeing.
Another similar concept is the "Friday the 13th" series, but a way-different tone.

Ive never paid for a streaming service, only one I just started 2 months ago is crunchyroll 8 month which is worth it to me. I have been watching one piece and dragon ball from the beginning. a lot of cartoons ive been watching on there, thoroughly think those 8 dollars are worth it.

but yeah, ive never had Netflix, amazon, Hulu, Disney etc, ive been buying shows on sales for like 4 years now. Prob spent 2-3k now, but my collection of shows is ENORMOUS. no regrets.

I love sci-fi and x files shows, so I bought both of them. will be watching them soon! anytime these shows go on sale, I consider money well spent, I mean, lets say 60-100 episodes at 45 minutes a piece, that is CHEAP entertainment.

While X-Files"s 218 episodes included several duds, I was constantly amazed how Gillian dead-panned a perfectly articulated monologue of techno-babble but in such an entertaining way - a "fascinating" Vulcan-like variation.

She's my choice as high-school Physiology teacher in an alternate universe.

With the games that the streaming services are playing regarding "ownership", like the fiasco with Crunchy Roll/Funimation, I'd MUCH rather purchase from Apple. They, too, play games but it's not as egregious... yet.
