Always depends on what you are making. The compounds in real extract burn off quite easily. Uncooked or short, low temperatures, real vanilla will taste better. Think frostings, ice creams, custards. Things like cakes and cookies, imitation vanilla actually holds up better. Baker's vanilla is also a good choice if you don't know which you will use. It is a mix of imitation and real vanilla.

When I was in the Westbury, NY Costco the other day, it was only $10.99 for 16 oz, so about half the price as this.

A few camels told me that this hasn't been consistently at or under this price since 2017. Nice find!

Now that's a lotta vanilla! I only bake twice a month max, it would take me years to get thru this, but in my experience vanilla lasts years and doesn't seem to lose any flavor or potency. I wonder what the label says about that.

Have to do some research before I pull the trigger.

How does this compare in price etc to Costco's Vanilla extract? The vanilla at my house goes fast. People don't follow recipes.

I thought the prices of real vanilla would have been down by now. I remember there was a drought or something a few years back in Madagascar that drove the prices up. Turns out they just kept the prices super high after the drought and countries are just not buying as much at the high prices. So much so that Madagascar has hundreds of tons of unsold vanilla. The more you know.

The last time I bought this was 2014 and just finished last year. I bought a new bottle since I was running low and noticed no difference between them in use. That would be for baking and making french toast.

And just a note, this was $6.38 with S&S the last time I bought it. I should have dumped all my money into vanilla extract futures!

Just eyeballing it? My nephew recently got his own place after living here for about a year and a half. Among the many things he did to make me crazy was eyeballing detergent. Even though he often just washed his work clothes alone, I did not understand where it was going until I asked him how he was measuring it. He wasn't.

So, we did a test pour on what he thought was the right about. It filled the cap to the max load line over five times. Crazy.

Yes and no. You can get away with it if you're baking cookies or something, but I would use real vanilla in a pudding or something like that.

It may not be fake but i can assure you that it's the least amount of vanilla they have to use and definitely doesn't taste near as good as high quality vanilla bean paste.
