Started using GolfPad app [golfpadgps.com] last year (LOVE it), and really wanted to try the "tags" (they screw into the end of your club handle) to make it easier to track distance, score, etc. $100 was too much of a risk, but I'll def give it a try at $60.

Looks like this is the cheapest they've ever been (CC).

Meh. Looks like most of the good features are only for premium subscription ($15/mo)

Check out Shotscope. No subscription, and works great so far this season.

I checked it out and it looks like the premium subscription is only $30 for the whole year, but I could be missing something. Where are you seeing $15/month? I was recently looking at others including Arccos so $30 annually seems pretty reasonable.

Curious - what the point of this is when you can use an app like Golfshot that seems do something very similar, but with no tags on your clubs?

I was trying to figure out exactly how this works and from what I gather reading the reviews is that basically these attach to the end of your club and you tap the tag to the phone and then it knows what club you are using, you then hit and go to your ball and I'm guessing tap the next tag and it now knows the direction and distance of your last shot from GPS.

Do not waste your money. It doesn't work & the tags fell off the club. Totally useless product.

A "tag" on the butt end of your club (not the face end), is at best a crude way to gage your swing because that is not the end moving the most or making contact with the ball. Pass.

You didn't read the description. That's not at all what golfpad does. It tracks your hits around the course, not your swing. The tags sync with your phone/watch by GPS to tag your location for every shot. With only your phone you have to take out your phone every single shot, with your watch you have to tap a button and It's not easy to select what club your using. With the tags it automatically tracks what club you picked up. So at the end of the day or season you can see exactly how far and accurate you hit your 7 iron, or driver, or wedge. Each tag is programmed to a specific club.
