I had one of these for a while. My advice to anyone is to not buy one unless you know exactly what you are getting. In other words, you should have already used one, or know someone who has used one a lot. They have so many shortcomings that the uninitiated are almost guaranteed to be disappointed. The price is good, but many people will be better off with the Mini... or one of the new phones with satellite comms. If you just need GPS, there are better options.

I'm so excited for garmin to die a swift death. What a crappy company that uses old tech, buggy software, and 20 year old UI they just adapt to work with their new units... But they have a monopoly in the handheld gps market, so they can charge $600 for devices that cost them $200 to make.

Yes, they should be forced to sell them for less than they make them for. Enjoy communism.

What "monopoly"? You can find handheld GPS in AliExpress for $34. Good luck.

The point of a Garmin is their ruggedness and dependability. That's why they're used in airplanes and boats, too.

I once simultaneously dropped a GoPro in a case and a Garmin InReach at 50 mph into asphalst. GoPro case cracked, camera survived. Garmin had just a few cosmetic scratches. No cracks. Perfect display still.

Now imagine being on a hike and cross a stream or it rains too hard, and that ruins your $35 handheld. Where do you go?
