xbox series s, my best appreciating asset. wallstreetbets would be so proud
Not even true lol
It's been a while since the last holiday season.

The release of College Football 25 has driven up console sales in July and Aug. Its inclusion on Game Pass is speculated to have increased sales of the xbox s. PS5 went up about 25% YOY, xbox x/s is up 48% YOY.

For that matter, it is normal for college kids moving into their dorms to drive up sales in a lot of home goods, laptops, and inexpensive / low end electronics related to entertainment, etc. Generally the parents are not willing to splurge and the kids want their stuff when they move in or shortly after and can't / won't wait until the next sale are depleting the used market

What am I missing here? Why would GameStop pay so much for these when they were widely for sale under $200 last holiday season?

I use my Xbox Series S too much to do this, but if I upgraded to the big one, maybe. (Or maybe not... we don't have a GameStop in the immediate vicinity anymore.)

The $$$ is in Game Pass for MS.. they don't care if you buy their consoles at all, and they are willing to sell them at a loss to get the subscriber base. Hell, I can play game pass on my monitor without even using a console or pc

You can buy a used one for 143.99 (pro member) at GameStop. Then trade it in for 247.50
The used One S is 143 not the Series S. Used Series S is 275.

Now I wish I would have gotten two from the FP Verizon deal! I got a free Xbox X from another FP Verizon deal, but not sure if I want to part with the S.. Scratchchin

What's everyone spending the credit on?

Would be all over this if cash but getting a credit is not appealing. I will say, that S is not as bad as people make it out to be. I have an X and it is great but for how cheap the S was, it does so much.

Game Pass is getting more popular. That's making the cheapest Xbox more popular…so demand/supply is driving it.
