It's been a while since the last holiday season.

The release of College Football 25 has driven up console sales in July and Aug. Its inclusion on Game Pass is speculated to have increased sales of the xbox s. PS5 went up about 25% YOY, xbox x/s is up 48% YOY.

For that matter, it is normal for college kids moving into their dorms to drive up sales in a lot of home goods, laptops, and inexpensive / low end electronics related to entertainment, etc. Generally the parents are not willing to splurge and the kids want their stuff when they move in or shortly after and can't / won't wait until the next sale are depleting the used market

They were as low as $138 during the holidays last year. Honestly I should have bought one just for the same reason haha. I upgraded from the One X to the Series X instead, and it was a pretty awesome upgrade...load times are so much better.
Same here. I've got an X that I rarely use and need to just do it with it.

TY OP!

Mine has been collecting dust for over a year.

What are the chances I could trade in an Xbox One controller with the console instead of the one that came with it?

The Series S compatibility has delayed game releases for the XBox. Black Myth: Wukong and Baldur's Gate 3 being 2 examples. Targeting two platforms takes more time than just one. Not Microsoft's problem, but it does give extra incentive for PS5 only releases (along with Sony $$$).

I still play my series S, and have kept it in near mint condition. But really what would the the downside of trading this in for store credit and grabbing the series X 1 TB on sale for 179.99 for pro members other than the refurb not being in near mint condition? I'd end up with a more powerful console with 2x the internal storage and ~$50 store credit left over.

I will consider trading in my S if store credit can be used for digital currency. I know how GameStop is very stingy when it comes to using their gift card or $5 monthly coupon on them.

Series x for $180??
I see $446 pre owned

Edit:
I think you are confused with the Xbox one x which is $180

I know GameStop rejects unopened games, maybe they would do the same for a console too?

It does seems a bit odd that they are giving so much, although it is credit. Maybe they figure some will lose the credit or forget to spend it.

Anyway, was considering trading a new console and just swapping in an old controller. The fine print does make me a bit nervous. I'd hate to open a sealed console, only to be rejected for some reason. I can't imagine that this offer will last long.
I bought it as a birthday present to treat myself and it was around the time they were limiting releases of stock of consoles so I jumped on it. I still mainly stream from gaamepass ultimate and have my one x , plus I could stream from tablet, phone, samsung smart monitor so technically i dont even need a console. But I'm kind of stuck with it. If I could sell it for $400 I'll take the $100 loss. Since I did also get around $40 cashback at the time and a $40 reward from bestbuy.

Can someone please tell me when this deal is over? I won't have my Xbox until next week.
