I picked one of these up recently. Looks and feels brand new. Not a single mark on the machine. Not for everyone, but it's a nice traveler: light, solid and smoove.

https://www.microcenter.com/produ...hed)-black

Intel Core i5 1145G7 (2.6GHz) Processor
32GB LPDDR4X RAM (soldered)
Intel Iris Xe Integrated Graphics
256GB SSD
14" WUXGA IPS Touchscreen Anti-Glare Display (400 nits)
Keyboard: Backlit
Charger: USB-C
Comes with Windows 10 Pro
Weight: 2.49lbs

Apply the $100 off Microcenter coupon found here:
https://slickdeals.net/f/17573511-microcenter-100-off-any-laptop-coupon

$550 - $100 = $450 + $35 tax + $5 e-Fee = $490 OTD

Pick-up only 😅

I have bought the 16gb/512gb version also from microcenter refurbished for the same price. The battery life is not great but other than that it's nice. About 6-7 hours is what you can expect AT BEST. Start watching youtube and it will go down to 4-5 hours.

Honestly I kind of regret it.

That's a really old CPU, even at this price. Also, like others have said, the battery life is not great on these, and worse due to the touchscreen.

I'd just put this $450 + tax towards a better laptop. There have been many amazing deals on much better laptops here on SD. Consider the money you save on this Thinkpad as a "coupon" towards a better laptop. At least that's how I justify not continue to buy more dates junk.

I really want an X1 Carbon, this is a great price. My concern is the CPU is dated, it's an i5 instead of i7, and 256gb is bit skimpy for a Windows machine.

On the other hand, this is half the price of newer refurb X1 Carbon's on Lenovo Outlet

Only deal that seems to come close to this build is the LG Gram, but you'll still pay twice the price for those and achieve some additional hours of run time doing the similar tasks.

The only amazing deals I see are for a handful of 5# gaming machines requiring additional power bricks for their GPUs

With the Windows 10 Pro updated, it's fast. No doubt 32-gigs is helpful. My needs don't justify updating to Win 11. And while the 256-SSD is passable for my tasks, it's surely skimpy as a media machine. A true, do-it-all device in the 2.5# range sub $500 ain't easy to find.

Surprised by the thumbs down. Even without a coupon, $550 is decent for instant local pickup of an elegant, lightweight workhorse with 11th gen I5. Has become my daily driver. YMMV but mine came with factory warranty through early 2025.

Unless you want a windows computer, I see no reason to not get m1 air for the same price
