I have this and use regularly and recommend. Great price OP. Regarding Amazon reviews saying leaks oil … maybe they aren't used to using a chain saw. The oil you would put into an electric saw is chain oil . The reservoir is designed to drip oil onto the chain to help with cut and lessen dulling of the chain teeth . To prevent any drips in shed when im done I just empty oil back out into container and wipe down the bar. Great tool to do limb trimming safely from the ground.

Correct. You are lubricating the chain not the motor. The oil on the chain teeth actually help it to make the wood chips come off with less friction. Less friction means it will cut faster, less heat and therefore less wear on chain before it would need sharpened or replaced. Average homeowner who is cutting off some limbs that are overgrowing the yard a few times a year it's going take a while to get to that point. Chips sticking to the chain and bar and oil after your cut… Yep that is normal. When you're all done for the day carefully take a rag wipe them off before putting the cover on and putting it away. If after a lot of use there's sawdust etc. built up under the motor cover it's a simple bolt or screw to take off and brush out

Price is slick.
Reviews on Amazon say this thing leaks oil all over.
Anyone with experience please comment.
Is there a better choice?

how do you avoid getting small wood pieces/dust in the oil? Maybe it doesn't matter since all you're lubricating is the chain and not the motor?

I have an older version of this pole saw and it's been great. It does seem to leak out oil a bit through the cap. Have to make sure to keep oil in it or it won't cut as good. It has really helped getting some of our taller trees cut in our yard. Thinking about buying this one for the price for a backup since we paid $70 for the one we have.
