After the recent app update Sonos experience is absolutely terrible. Do your research and understand what you're getting into if you're new to the ecosystem. Sonos of old days is no more - at least in my experience.

Just google it. I own around 20 sonos speakers spread over 9 different zones. After the recent update, volume randomly goes to 100%, music keeps playing while app shows nothing, missing features. Event the CEO of the company is taking about the software problems https://www.sonos.com/en-us/blog/...-sonos-app

I install stuff like this for a living and some of those Sonos systems work without any issue but there's more and more new stuff out of the box that won't sync together. The soundbar will work, the sub will act up and won't connect to create a surround sound system, while the speakers will lose connection. The app will play music and show nothing is playing, then will give an error saying that the system can't process request. There is a situation when the music will play for 5 sec and switch to the next song, another 5 sec and switch to the next, etc. I spend countless of hours on the phone with Sonos and every time I hear it's the wifi issue. I have replaced multiple wifis just to get the same issue a month later or 2. These days when one of my customers asks about Sonos I tell them to choose another system Wmii is a good option and it's half priced.

I've had various Sonos units for over 7 years and while people mention the issue with the new app, I've honestly had those issues at least for the last few years. The new app is somewhat nicer when you have a connected music service as it's easier to search etc. The delays in volume adjustments have always seemingly been there for me and I just got used to it. None of these systems these days (thermostats, doorbell cams, home automation systems, automobile infotainment systems etc) work that well overall, it's just the new wave.

Same. Worst is when it randomly stops playing. And the volume blast wasn't fun either. I don't recommend Sonos to anyone.

I've not had issues with the app, but admittedly I don't use the all often. Have arc and full sized sub on my 77" lg oled. It all just works flawlessly.

It will all get worked out. Sonos isn't going to just collapse.

didn't sonos mess up their app recently - heads should roll and they haven't - how could you F up that bad and keep your job? The engineering heads and the CEO's heads should roll for this.

Sonos stopped being useful for anything other than movies when they dropped Google support. Having to use the Sonos app for music playback is awful. I used to just be able to cast from Google Play Music directly to Sonos speakers, but that feature never got carried over to YouTube Music because Sonos and Google got into some weird beef that helped no one and just frustrated customers.

Not to mention the Arc genuinely sounds worse for music than the older Playbar, despite being a ton more expensive. It is better for movies though thanks to Dolby Atmos support.

(I regret selling my Playbar. 😔)
