A great vacuum at a great price. I've used and abused mine for over a year with no problems at all.

And for those diehards here who still still insist that there is something immoral or dishonest about hacking to purchase just the vacuum for $110, ask yourselves why Home Depot chose to set up a needlessly complex arrangement for buying this item. The vacuum costs $199, but comes with a "free" gift: a battery that is suddenly worth $88.38 if you return it.

If Home Depot didn't want you return the battery they would simply bundle the vacuum and the battery for $199, and would require you to return both items if you want a refund.

I know nothing about accounting, but I wonder if some purchases are set up like this because it is financially advantageous in the bookkeeping for Home Depot and/or Milwaukee. That's just a wild guess, but there is no obvious reason for them to do it.

I agree. Some tools aren't hack-able intentionally. Was talking to customer service at Home Depot. They didn't care, said Milwaukee didn't care. They sell them again, sell them platized, or insurance covers if

is it worth it to keep the battery if you need it or can it be hard a lot cheaper?

personally I don't think anyone should be buying new 5.0 xc batteries. I'd recommend going for the 6.0 high output instead. This way if you buy another high power tool in the future you don't have to worry about performance loss, or if you're worried about the weight then just get the 3.0 high output. You can always get batteries for a decent prince on OfferUp or Facebook marketplace

It's been this way for years. It's almost like they set it up this way intentionally to push sales. The prices fluctuate so much on any given day anyway, the markup for buying a tool at full price is actually insane. For example, I bought the m12 circular saw with 2 batteries for 185 the other day. The "normal" price is 349. Almost a $200 difference. It's insane. If it was like $30 bucks, sure but if they can afford to run $200 off sales that tells you the markup is astronomical. Never ever pay full price if you can afford to wait.

If you need a battery yeah, I suppose, but I will say you'll only get like maybe 10 min out of this with the 5.0 battery. Speaking from experience. But if you need one, you need one.

The important thing to note about this vacuum is you have understand its limitations/use case. Good for drywall dust, sawdust and small stuff basically normal job site stuff and if you're already in the packout system, anything major, this vacuum ain't it. I wouldn't compare it to a full blown plug-in shop vac. Some people will disagree on that last one, but as a pro detailer who uses a full blown $10,000 dedicated vac system that will suck your arm off this just doesn't do as well haha so the placebo effect is real for me.

But hey, HD has a return policy for a reason. Don't like it- return it. Simple as that.

Probably helps increase sales numbers to hit bonuses or something. I'm guessing returns don't factor into that number.

It's naive to think HD and Milwaukee don't know exactly what is going on because people talk and they're allowing it because it is still bringing in money.

Are there any battery adapters I have so many Ryobi batteries I would prefer to get the vacuum and return the battery and just use my Ryobi batteries. I do have a Ryobi cordless 3 gallon vacuum and they're great but I could always use another one If I could find it adapter which I haven't even looked yet

If you were to buy just the battery from Home Depot it would be $159. So by using the hack you could return the vacuum and get the battery for $88.38, which is about 45% off its regular price. But only you can decide whether that is "worth it".

You can check the price for that battery at a bunch of authorized sellers here: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Pro...48-11-1850

FWIW I doubt if you could buy that battery for much less than $88.38 from any authorized Milwaukee distributor. In fact if you see that battery on sale for significantly less be very wary.

Here's one for $29.99 from a reputable company with free shipping, but you have to pay for shipping if you return it: https://powertoolsadapters.com/pr...ry-adapter

And here's one on Amazon with free shipping and free return: https://www.amazon.com/DEWDYS-Mil...=hi&sr=1-1

There are a bunch of videos on Youtube with the pros and cons of using battery adapters. It might be worth looking at one or two of those before ordering.

It's very interesting, when I did a hack purchase earlier this year, the main item was on sale for like $99, with a free gift where I chose a battery. On my CC, the main item was charged like $36, and the battery was $63. When I noticed that, I anxiously and bravely tried the hack, and the battery portion was refunded. Then I became a believer of HD hack deals. I honestly didn't need another battery, but even at $99 it was a good deal I thought. If HD charged my CC $99, I probably would have returned the whole thing, as I was on the fence about it still.
