Warren. They also make the Walmart super tech oil too. It's good stuff especially for the price.

You can take it to most oil change locations for no fee. I just dropped off 3 5 quart containers at Walmart when I bought a few jugs of mobile 1. I also drop off at auto parts stores like O'Reilly, advance Auto parts, etc. please recycle the oil as it has large ecological impact if thrown out or disposed of improperly

Isn't it $29 for two 5 quarts in store?

I run the Kirkland 0w-20 in my '12 Prius C (120k miles) and my '22 4Runner (9800 miles).

I send my samples in to Blackstone laboratories every oil change.

I've slowly been increasing the interval on the Prius based on blackstone's feedback about wear and remaining additive.

Started at 7500 between changes, then 10k, then 12k. The most recent interval I went over 15k and everything was fine but the additive was getting low so they suggested not to exceed 15k between changes.

The 4runner is a garage queen so I've only changed it once at 5k (it had factory oil) and am nearing 10k now so I'll change it and sample the Kirkland oil.

Just some actual data for this quibbling about frequency. YMMV.
That's a wild story.

I am not technically inclined to change motor oil myself. If I buy this oil, can I carry it to Walmart ask them to change oil for me? Of course I pay the service charges (labor cost).
Yes. Walmart allows BYOO. I just replaced mine today. All the other local mechanics are starting to act as though this is a major inconvenience citing insurance liability. What the heck where the doing past 50-60 years?

I have no prob bringing my own oil for 15+ years. Toyota and Subaru dealerships, and a mechanic. At some point Subaru dealership refused to put my filter (something about liability) but then they started accepting it again.

I wish Costco would do oil changes at the warehouse.
Would save me so much money.
I drive a 7 year old VW Passat which isn't even a luxury car but I have to use synthetic oil.

Change your oil every 4k miles with full syn and you won't have any wear or sludge. Can't understand the fools who try to eek out every mile out of their $20 gallon oil. It's just dumb to literally sacrifice twice or 3 times the amount of miles you can get out of a good engine because you try to save a couple bucks on an oil change. Learn how to do it yourself for $25. Its the easiest thing in the world
Everyone's situation is different. For some it is not about the money but about their time. TIME is the major expense taking the car to a mechanic / dealer. With 3 cars in the house, and me handling it for my family, this is a lot of driving. So yes, people go crazy to pay some extra$$$ and change oil less often. Someone will post it in response, but yes, this post is very expensive.

id use it, but it doesn't claim 10k mileage, so I have to stick with mobil 1 because, it says 10k mileage lol.
10k mile oil changes will decrease your engine life switch to 5k

did you not read

I did 10k from 0-100k then 100-200k 15k intervals. im just doing 10k again starting 200k because, Costco cheap oil is readily available.

my engine doesn't burn any oil and I still get 30mpg. runs like a champ, I do nothing but change oil, tires and brakes,

changed coolant at 100k & 200k and plugs at 150k.

cheapest car ever. 20month insurance, 100motnh fuel.

aint no way in hell am I wasting $ on 5k intervals, oils are rated for 10-20k now a days. amsoili signature is 25k rated, and mobil 1 EP is 15k miles.

so why would I dump it? yeah, no.

10k oil is fine now a days. just buy synthetic. my tc is 0w20 full synthetic.

I've been changing the oil and ATF in my vehicles for a year now and I don't know what to do with the old oil I've been saving in the containers and at this point I'm too afraid to ask…
search for hazardous waste location for you city, and just drop it off there.
of just go to your local autozone or any of the oil change places

I do like to stock up on the oils when they go on sale but do have a question. If the jug doesn't get opened, is there a life span? such as an "expiration" date? In other words, if I bought 20 jugs, (assuming 1 oil change every 3 months) would the last jug of oil, roughly 5 to 6 years or so after puchasing, degrade in quality?

If you don't use the Costco brand oil within 3000 years' of purchase, it changes back into dinosaurs.

Be careful!

I'd gladly pay an extra $4 to save $200 from being in store and picking up random items I won't be finishing in time nod.

So now we save $$$ on the engine oil, what about the filter? Where do you all buy oil filters from?
I used to buy oil filters for $6-$8 from the local stores like Pep Boys or Advance Auto Parts. When I went to the Advance Auto Parts two days ago, I was shocked. Filters are $16 now. I bought the filter from Amazon last year. So not sure when the price went up.

Comes out to $4 cheaper for same quantity if purchased in store but your time and gas to go to store to save $4 may cost you more than $4 😁
Have you ever gone to Costco just to pick up one item that you need? Be real Wink
