I'm switching all my Wyze cams over to Tapo. Like the fact that it's 2K and has RTSP out of the box. Also can be steamed with Smartthings natively.

Only downside is that if you're using RSTP, you can't record to microSD and their cloud service at the same time. Has to be one or the other. And without a subscription, can't get notifications with snapshot.

But glad I made the switch.
This thing is great. I've tried a lot of systems (original tp links, Yi Cameras, Kami, Wyze, Google, Ring, and eufy) this probably the best free system with actually useful features. Highly recommend if you're planning to stay off cloud storage or contracts.
I own 6 of these. The best bang for the buck out there. They finally fixed the wifi connection issues a few months ago. 10/10 I would recommend these cameras.

Agree replaced Wyze with wz_mini_hacks with Tapo cameras. Tapo seems to have slightly better signal. Replaced all my wyze, going to try experimenting replacing eufy. Use with blue iris.

The positive comments in this thread encouraged me to give one a try. I have been replacing my garbage Foscam ones with ReoLink after trying about half a dozen others. I absolutely hate the Wyze cameras and don't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Hi, is buying 4 of these and putting each one on the side of the house wall outside. Is that a good home security set up?

This looks like a good option for me except I'm looking for a POE system.

If You have a good internet coverage around your house with a mesh system. it shouldn't be an issue.

I have another Tapo color camera. Love the free person detection but hate that alerts do not have picture. I also have a Yi, alert has a picture (no free person detection). Yi also has free 6 second cloud video that is faster to load than viewing on the camera. If there is an alert and I don't see anything worth checking in the picture, i don't bother . With Tapo, gotta playback to know what its for. If you are only interested in person or vehicle alerts then it will probably be fine.

I've purchased 3 of these so far and slowly replacing my Wyze cams with them, I really like the free person detection on the Tapos.

I'd like to use a spare tv as a security monitor and have all my Tapo cams live stream to it. Is that possible and is there a write-up on how to do it somewhere?

I have been using several Tapo C310, a C520, and a C110 cameras. I have been very happy with them. The app is easy to use. Picture quality is much better thany nest outdoor and nest door bell camera
