If anyone's wondering i only watched season 3 of this and didn't feel like I was missing any context from the first 2 seasons so that is probably the preferred way to go about it
The first two seasons are pretty bad. The show is genuinely good in its third season, and a worthy send off to the TNG crew. So really you'd be paying $15 for one season, that's the value add.
Loved how the first season went out of its way to vomit all over Measure of a Man. This show is why I'm pulling for AI to put every single one of these kind of writers out of a job.
Season 3 is fan service in the best way. A lot of the previous season reveals are also retconed so if anything it's BETTER to go straight to this season.
I don't hate the earlier seasons, but feel that they took the "not TNG" too far. They also had too many cooks messing with the characters. Not sure if it was a pandemic or what but some of the CG was truely terrible.

Not sure what people expect. I enjoyed Picard, Discovery, Strange New Worlds. Heck even the kids show Prodigy was kinda cool (similar animation to the StarWars CloneWars/Rebels animated shows) and brought back some old characters/actors and have alot of heart in them.
Do people want more drama like Battlestar Galactica, more drama/dark-comedy like The Leftovers? 2001: a Space Odyssey?
The only truly stinker of a fiction show (with a big budget) was Fear the Walking Dead, which is one of the few shows I've quit watching after a few seasons.

Yeah it's totally doable but that's part of the problem the way they just seemed to have thrown out the prior seasons leaving it to make little sense. The most important thing is it ended on the highest of highs.
Season 2 is one of the worst seasons of Star Trek, hell sci-fi in general ever made. It's up there with season 3 of Distory, then the rest of Discovery. It's amazing that the same people wrote and made season 3. Season 3 is far from perfect but at least, mostly, watchable.
From everything I read by the time s3 rolled around matalas was actually able to do what he really wanted to do. They brought back a bunch of the original art people and made it feel much more cohesive with actually historic TNG. Night and day.

S2: -$10
S3: $30
that's how $15 reached.
