Don't get this phone the CPU on the exynos 1280 has two big and 6 small cores and caused a lot of stuttering. You want at least 4x4 recommend the a54, a35, or moto stylus 2024 5g. Take a look at the budget carriers for port in deals or swappa.com for used, don't ever pay retail for a Motorola too.

Do you have any reports of real life performance instead of just spec sheets?
Cricket gave me three for free. It stuttered like heck and is dog slow. I mean I have 10 year old phones that had smoother experience.

I put it in my drawer for the day there may be a trade in plan, but Samsung normally doesn't do anything for A-series so it may just turn into e-waste. Also not sure if it applies here but it was network locked for 6 month to Cricket (AT&T) of usage before you could unlock it. So check just to be sure. It wasn't 6 months to pass, you had to use it for 6 months on the network.

They shouldn't be that slow. Maybe they were still doing initial setup in the background or one of your apps was going nuts.
You can also remove some bloat with adb. A few people had good luck with that.

A-series phones are not going to be S-level, but they should be perfectly usable for a DD.

I have the A53 and I bought the A54 for my wife. After a year and a half I can definitely say that the A53 is much better and much stable then my wife's phone. The A54 is a piece of junk.

I had this with Exynos ITS WAS SO LAGGY, LIKE GOING BACK TO 2015 DO NOT BUY IT
Why? They are based on the same Cortex A-78/A-55 just like from Snapdragon.

Is it worth $100 at this point in time? Maybe if you are already locked into an ATT mvno it would make sense? A53 is my daily driver. Really solid phone. Battery capacity is excellent. It's survived one beating after another with a $12 rugged case from fleabay and a cheap glass screen cover. My trick was to never sign in to the phone via a Samsung account. So the phone isn't forced to run the additional Samsung bloatware associated with a Samsung account. No lag or stuttering but people are not stating when they experience this or what apps it supposedly stutters with. For maps navigation, email, music, watching videos on X YouTube Rumble Brighteon whatever, and fast food ordering apps it does great. Have yet to find a modern app it won't run since it's on Android 14. Tried the A54 and A52 and did not notice any major differences but a power user I am not. The OLED screen is really good and the camera on this one is darn decent too. Just not sure I'd pay 100 for it at this point in time if I lost mine and needed replacement, unless I was stuck under contract with ATT or ATT mvno that is.

Just want to second this. I got this phone from the QVC offer about a year ago and I think it's really cool. The reason I mostly carry one of my numerous Pixels is because the A53 camera is a bit soft - not unusable, but the Pixels are better.

In some reddit threads, people were complaining that stock bloat apps were slowing things down and using adb to remove them was helpful. Not sure if that's still a thing, but maybe that was the problem for the people reporting issues here. I doubt the hardware itself is a problem, it's in other stuff.

I don't know how different the Exynos will be, but my A52 5G is a 2x6 with Qualcomm chips and it works quite well even after 3 years. Android has no issue with 2x6 arrangements.
My phone performs well with Samsung's stock OneUI or running Nova launcher.
I had also chosen the A52-S because of the better snapdragon CPU, but found it to still be laggy sometimes, so I can only imagine what the exynos processor would be like. That said, it was mostly smooth sailing for 2.5 yrs and only now upgraded to a Pixel.

Adb is essentially software that allows you to communicate with your Android device via command line. It stands for android debug bridge.

Back in the day, I would use adb to fix the hot water I got myself into when messing around with custom ROMs. I don't bother with custom ROMs anymore, but adb can be useful for more mundane tasks as well.

Here is an XDA article that walks you through using adb to uninstall some factory bloat apps.
The article links to the prep work of getting adb set up on your computer and covers how to enable debug mode on your android device in preparation for connecting via USB.
