Eh, it's a so-so deal. The OP can forego the sensationalizing editorial, and just post the deal. We can comment if it's a great value or not.
It's...what, nearly a four-year old machine? And "open-box" which is...well, codeword for a coin flip. It might be literally like new, it might not-really-be-new. Given it's Woot (notorious for not refurbishing anything that's labeled refurb) and Amazon (notorious for commingled inventory)....I wouldn't hold my breath.
And no Apple Care. That hurts.
The 16gb/512gb components are....well, for 2020 and 2024, kinda min-spec. Ten years ago they were above average, but now I wouldn't touch a machine with anything less than that (barring a bona-fide use case).
If this machine was $1000, I'd say it'd be more in line with being a semi-good deal. For $1500, not so much. But hey, to each their own.

Agree with your comments. I recently picked up a new MacBook Pro 16 M3 pro base for $1799 with Best Buy memberships plus.

And that was eligible for AppleCare. The posted deal probably won't be eligible -- some have had luck getting it, some haven't. For a $1500 daily driver device, I wouldn't want to take that risk.
