Mind you that I only have 100Mbps Spectrum internet but I do stream/direct play 4k videos from a Plex media server to several Amazon Firestick 4k devices without issue. Overall IMO you would be hard pressed to find such relatively decent hardware for so cheap; especially a Mesh network.
It wasn't all smooth at first mind you. I kept getting disconnects; especially with the streaming IP cameras. But I discovered by disabling Express Forwarding all my streaming issues went away. (CA>Connectivity>Administration>Express Forwarding)
I'm guessing that Cisco's/Linksys' proprietary Express Forwarding routing protocol was causing havoc with the IP cams streaming capabilities. Also, disabling Node Steering seemed to make things more stable as well; mesh nodes no longer disconnect from the router when Node Steering is disabled. (CA>Wi-Fi Settings>Advanced>Node Steering)
Of course, user experience can vary so feel free to experiment. if the routers are giving you problems, try turning these features off and see if it works
It's not a deal if you never receive it.

Internet is full of instructions to unbrick linksys routers.
you can use any tftp server
try renaming the firmware to tortuga.img
also to flash firmware use command
run flashimg
and
run flashimg2
run both to flash both partitions.
this command was hard to find, i spend a sleepless night to find the right command.
update_both_images/flash_pri_image do not work on this.
Do you have links on the TFTP unbrick process? What TFTP client did you use?
It was wonky, I don't think I fully reset it, it was flashing red for a little while. I then connected child-wan to parent-lan. It's now showing wired-backhaul. I moved the child to the correct room, and it's been staying at wired-backhaul.
I have 4 x MX4300 (stock firmware for now) with each configured as an access point (bridge mode) and connected to my pfSense router via a managed switch (each AP is on a different VLAN so I can set up firewall rules by VLAN). One of the access points is configured as mesh to a 5th MX4300. I have to say that $90 (2 x $15 and 3 x $20) for this environment was a slick deal :-) I have no linksys account and have configured all of them manually with the web interface. But I did want to see if I could access each of them with the phone app (also with no Linksys account). This was necessary since I could find no way to remove a child node from the mesh config through the Web UI, it is only available in the phone app (possibly other functions as well). Since I have multiple network segments, I have to connect to the specific SSID when I want to connect the phone app to a specific access point. This will allow the app to search the connected network for a compatible Linksys device and you login with the password set. Once completed using the phone app, I recommend that you logout if you are planning on connecting to an AP on another network segment since it will try to login to the last connected device even when you change which SSID you are connected to. Using this sequence I am able to jump to any of the multiple AP's that I have configured.
If anyone see's a problem with that sequence, please let me know.
Tftpd64 - http://tftpd32.jounin.
connect RX -TX, TX - RX and the ground, have a serial connection going. i used Putty. point it the correct com port. . You will see commands on the terminal window.
Step 1
run flashimg
it should give you the ip address of LN1301, it will give you ip address which the file be downloaded from. It will give you the firmware name its needs to download.
Change the ip address of your computer to the ip which the above command tried to download, select the ip in the drop down in Tftpd64.
Subnet mask has to be 255.255.255.0
try the command again - run flashimg

Is there any way to see what node you are connected to?
I know the Linksys app doesn't but another app or method for iphone or windows. It doesn't seem like I'm switching nodes.
The Xfinity app shows all devices connected to the Gateway (Xfinity router) by ethernet. Thanks.

On iOS, I use an app called WiFi analyzer. On the overview page it actually tells you the MAC address BSSID of the access point/node you are connected to. As I walk around I can see this change to the closest/best signal, takes a few seconds for the switch to happen though.

How do you make/connect the cable? From the router do you wire it to usb? Ethernet? DB9?
I've got a router with the homewrk firmware I'd love to convert and make usable
