May be an even better deal if you don't: If you don't get one, the CPU can't melt on you [theverge.com].

I picked one up for my son about three months ago. They only had one left in store, the display model. However, it was not hooked up to power or a monitor, so it had never been used. I asked if I could get a discount because it was a floor model, and they knocked 10% off.

They had all the original boxes, packaging, etc. Basically a brand new computer. Can't remember what it was listed for back then, but it must have been on clearance because I got it for $550. Took it home, booted it up, and it went through all the Windows startup screens for a new computer. It has been running great for him.

Update the bios, supposedly fixed the issue. Make sure you flash before you start running games.

"Supposedly" it remains untested, and Intel is more than likely trying to limp this along until their next CPU's are ready, and they can skip doing a full recall. With the way Intel has handled this situation, skepticism of them remains high to all but the Intel Fanboys imo.

I've got a 14700 prebuilt that's been sitting in the closet because of the fiasco. I only used it for an hour or so to run benchmarks then put it aside until I had time to either move all my stuff to it or scavenge it and build something with the parts. Put it on hold after the news.
