How does this compare to that freestanding Roland 30 adorama package for $550?

Got this on the last deal - super high quality. If you end up watching popular YouTube video on how to assemble - please read the comments. I would just go with the included instructions (towards the end). Almost broke some wood and brackets (had to bend the bracket back).

If you've ever touched an old piano with real ebony and ivory keys, this generation of Casio Pianos was the closest I've ever felt to the real thing.

The piano sounds are nice as well and the configuration is pretty solid overall.

The biggest issue with this Piano is the fact that the speakers are tuned for projecting all around the room, but you don't really feel their presence when playing and you to me it made it hard for to distinguish some of the more subtle tones. You could see an AMP went off then it will be right in you face.

The Roland has Bluetooth Audio and Speakers that point directly at you, so it is much easier to discern your ability to hear the subtle tones.

Also, the Roland stand and The pedal board will cost a pretty penny.

Is this a big upgrade from the old Privia PX-200? I bought that in like 2008 and it's just collecting dust in my storage room. Would like to start playing piano again and was wondering if I should start fresh with the 870 or dig out the 200.

Honestly I doubt it would be much of an upgrade. The px series is an all around solid starter series - one of the best imo. I'd dig out the 200 because it's a great keyboard!

I agree about the feel of the keys. Casio has a subtle texture that feels like you're playing a real piano. I've tried the big brands of digital pianos and the Privias have the best feel of all of them.

This is a great deal if you're looking.

More than likely it would. You're talking about a 10 year gap in technology at a time when the digital piano manufacturers were discovering all kinds of new techniques and improving on their keyboards, sounds, and quality.

Your PX-200 was probably very nice for the time, but this is a Baby Celviano and is very similar to an AP-470 which compete with lower end Clavinovas.

The sale ended, but looks it comes back every month. Maybe I'll buy it next time, thanks.

I am wondering the same thing. Costco will have Roland FRP Nuvola on sale next week for $600. Wondering if I should pull the trigger for that or keep waiting for PX-870 to go on sale again...How do these two compare in case anyone knows?
