But it has two big limitations: it can't detect hot wires, and it can't distinguish between metal pipes and studs.
So I use this as my primary stud finder, but verify its findings with another stud finder to look for hot wires and pipes before doing anything.

A Costco review criticized it for having "no suction", so I don't trust all the 1-stars there. As much as I'd like to buy the Costco one I don't need it, but if you don't have one I highly recommend it, it gives you the stud dimensions right in front of you, very helpful.

I have just such a scenario between the two doors of a walk-in closet - and it wasn't as if the builder was trying to frame a window there - and this configuration has indeed driven my multi-sensor stud finder crazy in certain orientations.
Good luck!

You can ignore my experience with using that stud finder and believe the sales blurb, but I am not the only person that has issues with its wire detection. It is excellent as a stud finder though.
