None of the reviews complained about temperatures, instead praised it. Only thing these were plagued with was software and BIOS issues. You can get around it if you're even a little tech savvy as some aforementioned reviewers have mentioned.

I purchased a used version of this exact laptop. Temps while playing World of Warcraft Classic were consistently 95-97.5 degrees celsius on the CPU. Needless to say, I returned it.
*Edit for additional information* Additionally, google search AMD mobile CPUs and operating at low frequency. I wasn't able to resolve an issue where all CPU cores would underclock themselves to 400MHz and obviously, performance would become abysmal. Avoid this laptop.

An actual use case scenario, in this case, is just another way to say anecdotal evidence. At least with research, you get a broader sense of the data.
Review units can be cherry picked. Someone else who has owned or used the same laptop for an extended period of time is free to chime in. These are refurbished as well, which indicates they were faulty at one time or another

I bought a new one and yes there is no throttling but the temps were high 90s all the time and the fans run at max speed. The software is flawed because as there's only 3 modes and if want to lower the fan speed the total wattage also drops with significantly lower fps.

Software can definitely kill the user experience, I'm glad Lenovo and Asus have alternative options for their gaming laptops software wise. With Acer I am stuck with predator sense.

My company bought 4 of these units for engineering/CAD workloads for some recruits out of college they were trying to wow. None of them had overheating issues. They all used the "Balanced" power profile, seemed to work fine for the work they did. 2 of the 4 had that stupid BIOS issue where it wouldn't seem like it would boot. You had to do some weird voodoo ritual of it being charged enough and opening the lid with and without the power attached and turning it on and off while standing on one foot. (Seriously I forget the exact sequence but it was just as stupid). Build quality seemed pretty decent.

Corsair refurb is like buying new great condition with my cooling system and PSU I saved a lot of money for a quality product.
I'm going to do my own research, and watch this thread. I need a new laptop for my wife, and being a "techie" guy, I know a refurbed gaming laptop ought to give her a great experience for a long time with what she needs to do - but also might allow me the chance to game when we are off in a hotel room somewhere, since I don't own a laptop myself since my work provides me one. Of course it can't game... anyway, she really needs it for schoolwork (wink, wink) since she is working on becoming a nurse practitioner and is currently enrolled at THE University of Mississippi - Ole Miss. Our alma mater, for whom I can possibly toot my horn for this year in Football - finally!!!
BTW - any slick deals on Ole Miss gear? I need to stock up!

Not every review unit can be cherry picked. Watch videos and reviews on YouTube and not a single one would complain about thermals. That's all I'm stating.
I, personally, would rather believe actual reviews from professionals, that are more in number, than the 2-3 random buyers.

Just an FYI. It looks like this laptop mostly supports Linux (suspend doesn't work, but that's the case on a lot of laptops). This is a lot of bang for the buck!
