Sony has gotten insufferably greedy this past decade ("G Master," etc.) but this is the super rare bargain product. Same as FX3 but smaller sensor that costs about the same to manufacture, at 1/3 the price point.

Such weasels.
What? I'm confused by the complaint here. Sony is one of the easiest mounts to get new cheap 3rd party lenses on. If they make G-master lenses more expensive than us mere mortals can afford, we still have Sigma, Tamron, etc. to use for 90%+ of the quality at a fraction of the cost.
Not a sony fanboy, i'm genuinely curious what other Greedy practice you're talking about other than making some premium-tier gear not marketed to you and I.

Red herring; I'm talking about Sony's own tacky mobster needy uptight greed for their own products. And hey, great timing, did you see their press release today for a simple lav mic with a mini-plug connector? They think there are "G Master" types stupid enough to fork over $250 for that.
Earlier this week, they snuck a new pair of cans that look identical to the legendary sub-$100 blue-stripe staple for studios. Price? $250.
They're morons/panhandlers/opportunists. Compare with Blackmagic Design.

Maybe I'm just desensitized to this since it's more the standard and if Blackmagic is the exception, good for them. I would be more upset if Sony was actually preventing 3rd party stuff from working and forcing you to buy overpriced products. This just looks like your average move, here's a 1st party add-on, it'll cost you more than 3rd party options that are probably just as good.

Curious what your referring to on this. I'm no professional just doing photo and video work as a mental break from my day-job for friends and friends-of-friends and solid low-budget options for gear are always in my interest.

We basically agree; the reason I care about Sony is because they make the best camera bodies and sometimes price them rationally, and as you note, they don't lock out third-party lenses (whereas Canon is suing anybody who tries as to their RF mount). There are budget options that perform as well and sometimes better, such as Tamron and Sigma versus the stupid overpriced "G Master" line.
Here's a preview comparison of Sony's money grab I mentioned, promising theoretical improvements but grabbing 250% more money: https://www.engadget.com/audio/he...52628.html. The ubiquity of the MDR-7506 on Hollywood movie sets and practically every studio everywhere for many years, is the reason why this clone is a slimy sneak attack by Sony.
