Cancelled my order after watching YouTube review. Apparently the whole back wall is mesh only. So it could get cold since no way of covering up the mesh. Went with the 6 person Coleman syndrome on Amazon for $65 instead

In the market for a larger tent, but the screened room doesn't make much sense to me. Its not big enough to sit in, so bug protection isn't a factor. And you can't store gear out there because it will get rained on. Seems like a novelty. The vestibules or extra rooms need to be water protected to be useful.

I had this tent for a couple years and we really liked it. We were always plenty warm because the rain fly covers that back mesh pretty well. We never experienced water leaking either so I don't know what's up with the bad reviews. I only don't have it anymore between we outgrew it (had another child).

I had this tent and loved it, but it was too small. Yes, the back panel is all mesh, so you must use the rainfly if you want privacy/dark. But with the rainfly on, boy is it dark, even in direct sunlight. I never used it in the rain, so I can't comment on that, but being able to sleep in at Renissance Festivals after a long night of drinking is awesome.

I really like the concept of the dark room tech for camping. A lot of the tents I've used get real hot in the mornings. The black material is concerning because it will produce more heat in the sun. If you're worried about seams they make a seam sealer glue for tents that will add extra protection although I've heard Coleman does pretty well with reinforced seams. I read good reviews and picked up the 6 person sundome with dark room. It has a bright green fly which I feel will help mitigate the heat. Not the cheapest but we'll see if the dark room tech is worth it. Amazon has the non-dark room 4 person sundome on sale now too: was $99.99 now $66.99.

I bought this Monday and its setup in my back yard. After watching the reviews, really the only flaw that seems to apply and does to almost all tents in the budget range is water leaking in at the tub seam. I used Gear-Aid seam protector and got a good rain storm a few hours after applying along with decent wind and it stayed bone dry inside. The Dark Room tech on this model is a little flawed as the fabric allows for more light than most of the other Dark Room tent models. No big deal for me. Setup is easy but not as quick as they make it seem. Be sure the awning is in the right orientation and all should go smoothly. Also, they added drain to the sun room from previous version which is welcomed to keep water from pooling. I think they could have designed the screen room stakes to be elevated so there is gradient to move the water to the drain but something that can be 3d printed.

I recently went camping in an Walmart Ozark 4-person tent and it ended in disaster after a wind storm. This is at least two steps up from Ozark build quality.

No full fly, no buy. That being said, if you're looking for something that you don't intend to take to nature (like, for a backyard, or as a sun shelter, or whatever, I'm sure this is a good deal. But I really wouldn't buy any tent without a full fly if I was actually going to camp in it.
