Bought this from best buy for $20 since I had expiring reward certificate. Without guard it's still a bit abrasive and rough. But I get a close clipper shave for my head. Haven't tried on face since I use the norelco one blade for stubble

these generic units often never work and have to be thrown away.
I dont know that I'd call "Wahl" a generic.

Any recommendations for a beard trimmer that is really great? Willing to spend $$ if it's gonna last a long time and do a great job. Thx

I have this one. Bought it about a year ago from Target on sale. I cut my own hair but with different Wahl hair clippers. I use this more for beard, mustache and around the ear and back of neck trimming. More for grooming and keeping my lines clean before my next cut. It's a close cut than the hair clippers and the attachments are good. It cuts cleaner than my wahl battery powered one. I wouldn't use this as a whole head hair clipper. Mainly for trimming, grooming, ect.

The cord is very long.

Curious how the stacks up with the landscaping unit from the other day
I have this, and I wouldn't be doing any "landscaping" with this. This really goes right down to the skin, so you'd be risking a bloodbath with any parts with loose skin, lol

Because these are zero overlap blades with a closer cut, they are marketed to those with curly hair who might get razor bumps from shaving. Some other Wahl trimmers have a small overlap for comfort and safety. Even though I'm not the target demographic, I want to try them to see if I get a closer cut than my other Wahl trimmer. Image isn't everything!

I'm no expert or professional but I have been cutting my own hair since 2006. I spoke with a professional barber who explained that Wahl is one of the originals and still one of the best. He recommended a $200 pro set of clippers. I bought the $200 clippers and a $100 edger/trimmer. Over the years I've come to realize that it's best to stay away from devices under $50. You truly are getting what you paid for

I currently have been using the Wahl Gold Series clippers (since 2020) and the Babyliss edger (since 2021). Both are cordless, light weight with strong motors, and consistently sharp.

Not familiar with this model but I highly recommend Wahl products. They are made well compared to the others on the market.
