you dont need to have $5 in your account. I dont and got it just fine. I think the point is that your steam account has to have spent at least $5 during its life.

If you're scared of something like that, I'm here to disappoint you. If Fanatical really wanted to sell your email to scammers or bots they'd have already done so. No consent needed.
You didnt read my comment. The issue is not whether Fanatical would sell your email. Most companies hire a third party to handle promotional work like contests, email blasts, newsletters etc. Those firms charge less than they otherwise would have to charge by making money from the emails they gather. I don't know with certainty that Fanatical follows this customary business practice but I'm not taking a chance of my email being sold to countless spammers by a publicity firm.

That might be true but you miss my point entirely . The time required was not my primary concern — my primary concern was that you need to give your email address — which is fine if you have a junk collector email account and you did not already have a Fanatical account — and that was probably your situation. If you already had a Fanatical account connected to Steam then I don't think you could connect a second Fanatical account with the junk collector email to Steam.
Complaining about this while you are on Slickdeals where they collect all the data on you anyways.

SD is getting data on someone who supposedly lives in ATT's HQ building in NYC and who has a free email that is a junk collector email. I have no ISP and no location except for that one. It is like an avatar. Yes they know all about the spending habits of that fictional person with that fictional email (that I never use for anything personal) at a physical address in NYC that means nothing . And they get an aggregate payment from Amazon and other sellers that includes a percentage of my purchases— similar to a broker's fee . None of that bothers me.
