I wonder how many members Sam lost with this $50 minimum change. If you don't live close enough for Delivery this makes a Sam's membership pretty useless, unless you regularly have $50 shipping orders.
I blame Costco's lack of competition in online shopping for this change.
Costco & their members still living in the early 1990's before online shopping was a thing.

With the above numbers I guess I'd say a final membership price on Plus around $20 would be worth it. Maybe up to $25, since the free delivery really came in handy when I was buying stuff for a party when we were out of town. That was a big help that I didn't need to rent a car or make a trip...just timed it with our arrival. And the prices were as expected.

We're also members of Costco but the continual games of here today, never to be seen again make it frustrating. You can get cunchy dried baby crabs in a shell snacks (vomit)... but need pepperoni or french fries...nah, not here you freak.
I used the same email before, first time I said yes, then it tried to charge me $50. Tried again and it asked me a few times (maybe 3) if I was the same person as before, said no and it created a new account for me.
