I'm very much aware of what he's referring to.

What you fail to realize is that he comments this on every single thread, ad nauseum. There's zero effort to be helpful or informative, so what would you label it? A meme?

As for the rest of your comment, are we just straight up lying at this point?

A BIOS update solves the issue for processors that haven't already been affected.

Even if that weren't the case, as I said previously, the whole system is under manufacturer warranty. It might be inconvenient to buy it only to send it back in six months, but nobody is going to get shafted on this deal.

For anyone who bought a boxed retail processor, Intel has extended their warranty on the component. To say they aren't honoring it is just another lie.

Better 4070 super & Ryzen 7 7800X3D for $100 more. The step from 4070 to 4070 super is substantial, almost 4070 TI performance. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is universally recognized as the best gaming CPU in the market, period. A complete no brainer upgrade for $100 more than this.

it's been available every month for the past 3 months at Best Buy, and will probably be available again soon as we approach the 15th.

It's under warranty as a prebuilt.

Quit trying to be edgy.

He's talking about the inherent instability flaw that has been reported widely with Intel CPUs. Intel is refusing to warranty or do a recall on this and there is no fix. Do your research.

They're 4800mhz so not 100% ideal but it works.
Mismatching ram speeds is never a good idea. Can cause blue screens and instability.

It actually just means all of the RAM will only operate at the closest agreeable multiple, which means anything faster than 4800Mhz will be stuck at that speed. And obviously XMP won't work.

However, you never want to run mismatched pairs in a system capable of dual, triple, or quad channel interleaving for compatibility sake, as it can halve your bandwidth.

That's why RAM kits are sold in matched pairs of 2 or 4 DIMMS.

That's completely inaccurate..
First, the fix was uploaded over a month ago. Reviewers have fully tested it and have found basically no performance loss. Second, Intel extended the warranty from 3 years to 5 years, many OEM companies have extended their 1 year warranty to cover this, and people that had a degraded CPU from before the patch have been getting warranty replacements. The only case that I saw where someone didnt get a replacement, was because they were sold a counterfeit CPU (it was an open box that someone swapped out the CPU and the person didnt realize), so to Intel it seemed like an attempt at warranty fraud.

Gamers nexus has confirmed multiple cases of Intel claiming CPUs were counterfeit when they were legit.

Yeah, when I upgraded my RAM from 16 to 32 I purchased the same make and model for this reason. They all have different numbers that mean different things beyond the clock speed (latency, etc), so two different 3200 DDR4 Ram sticks may not necessarily play well together despite being the same clock speed.

Gamer's Nexus also hyper sensationalizes their videos.

They didn't seem to do it when AMD was having very similar issues last year.

It's always advisable to seek multiple sources.

Look -- at the end of the day, Intel is a loser company that nobody in hardware wants to work for anymore. They've had to sell off multiple business units just to keep their main business afloat because of the horrible predicament they've gotten themselves in. This is well known in Silicon Valley. They're employing the worst of the worst hardware and software engineers and nobody good wants to stay there and watch AMD and Nvidia stock rocket while Intel stock does nothing but sink. It's basic economics. Just research how far behind they are on just the nanometers of their chips. Do you want the worst engineering and yesterday's technology in your product? If so, go ahead and hit the "purchase" button.

I don't know anything about the state of their engineering teams, I do know they are leaning hard on the 18a node in '25. With that said I really do wonder how Pat keeps his position.

Pat inherited most of the problems from Intel's previous CEO, who was a sales guy that was very non-technical. Just like a well known particular soda salesman, he faced the classic innovator's dilemma, failed miserably, and dug Intel into a deep ditch that it's trying to get out of today. Just look at the old process node they're on. However, it has come to the point recently where Pat's decisions are now creating problems as well.
