For my arm tendonitis, an elastic sleeve helped. It needed to be part of a physical therapy plan including light-weight lifting (somehow better than no-weight or high-weight). Also, icing for 20 min every hour or so tends to help tendonitis.
I had Achilles tendonitis for months. I went from a very physical job, to no job, and that's when it hit. I was still walking around and doing stuff, but much less with no job + tendonitis. After months I got a job that put me on my feet again constantly. Within a few days the tendonitis vanished. No explanation, no recommendations, just an anecdote about how the human body is weird and sometimes rest isn't best.
I had plantar fasciitis for over a year. I used soft insoles for treatment. At some point I figured out how to cure my sugar addiction. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a healthy diet, but it's no longer 20%-30% desserts. That had some kind of affect on inflammation that caused the fasciitis to fade to nothing in a couple of weeks.

It *does* appear the guy in the photos is a sports doctor, for what it's worth:
