They are spiteful and don't want to pay the company that owns the patent so they turned off the feature. Remember if it doesn't make money for them, they don't want it.

Trade in Best Buy is the worst! Traded in a iPad Pro and when I didn't get the credit for almost a month and escalated and they told me that I never traded the iPad when I went inside the store and handed them over ! Will never deal
with them again!

So why do we think Best Buy is doing this?
Even if they think the demand for series 9 will be greater than series 10 and they want to build up a stock of refurbs, they won't be able to charge more than MSRP so they're still buying up all these watches at a loss.

I just bought a series 9 45mm for $307. I'm good love this 9 and 10 isn't a big upgrade. Not worth paying $140 more for after trade in.
