Can somebody give me some direction as to the appeal of this product? Is it essentially supposed to be a monitor and TV in one?

It's a smart tv without the tuner and monitor functionality is mediocre at best. I got the black version 2 years ago for $330 and it's ok for office work and occasional streaming app usage. Main selling point for me was the size, resolution, usb c, and price. I can use it like a beater monitor and not be delicate with like you would with OLED screens.

You need the remote to switch back and forth between sources, otherwise, you need to use the buttons on the bottom of the monitor and those are pretty difficult to get used to. Remote is rechargeable via usb c so that's a nice feature.

Nothing to rave about but it gets the job done as long as you temper your expectations.
